Usually $80-100 for 3 pulls based off my experience in the Denver area 12-13 years ago.

Oh there will be some mods all right
Ah, okay. So probably a little more now with inflation. I would love to have my truck tuned, wish there was a handheld where I just choose the octane and disable the smog pump and away I go.

If you'd like a once and done kinda deal, you could mail me your ECU and I could flash the tune/SAI delete and you wouldn't have to bother with the cost of the MPVI2 or anything. $250 is what it would cost.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
There is a way, but the octane choice would not be on the fly and there are some tweaks to be made. This can be done remotely by some folks on here without sending of your ECU or taking your truck anywhere. The SAI or smog pump disabling is NOT legal for on road use and would endanger a tuner’s livelihood if they advertise something in direct violation of EPA laws. However, if your truck is “off-road” only use then that can be deleted as well remotely. Just sayin’

The remote option would incur additional cost of the MPVI2 at the $250 additional cost referenced above.

    Good points made here!

I have gotten lackadaisical in my disclaimer. I've been operating on the principle that those requesting such things know and understand the laws, and their requests are made with that understanding.

Which explains why my truck felt like trash when taking off prior to your tuning. Now it's tap-n-go. :D

2012 was also the mid year model revision so they did a lot of stupid updates due to further chokeholds imposed by the EPA and CARB. It makes sense.

Not looking for “proof” but curious what the curve looks like. I come from a motorcycle tuning background where there is no data logging like there is on cars/ trucks, so to get a tune right the use of a dyno is extremely helpful if not necessary. Much simpler to tune a bike than these trucks. With data logging I have no doubt of the capabilities of creating a well built tune without ever seeing a dyno. It’s just nice to have a picture to reference and back up claims.

That said, the people like you and the others working on tunes here for this community, I assume in your spare time for free, are saints for us normal folk without knowledge or access to a professional tuner.

It will, depending on what your limiter is set at. Keep in mind, that the number in the table is your driveshaft speed. So even if the trans is set to shift at 2700 output speed, there is some slip in the torque converter. So the math that gets you to 5500 RPM might actually be 5700 RPM taking torque converter into account.

It might take some trial and error to get it where you want it. If you hit redline before the shift, you can adjust either the shift schedule down a hair or the limiter up a hair to make it not hit the limiter. Just be careful with how high you rev the engine. 5700 under boost is getting up there on a 1GR from what I've gathered. I wouldn't go much higher than that.

Oh no, it is for a great reason, and totally worth it. I bought a laptop for like $350 at the time from WorstBuy. A Lenovo. It is limited in storage space but suffice for HPT software, and mild internet usage and has done the job just stellar for me for it's intended purpose.

I completely understand where you're coming from! I apologize if my post came off as a bit gruff.

I too dabble in the motorcycle tuning world. I used to play with the R1/R6 platforms but have since moved to the KTM off-road bikes (have a 2019 KTM 450 XC-F) that I tinker on. I have KTM's factory remapping software and the changes made are so small that only a dyno would be able to definitively prove a change occurred.

The logging software and magnitude of change in output can be felt in the truck. When you're talking 10hp difference in something you're often able to perceive that change, but with bikes, you're seeing 2-3hp changes with tuning and that's difficult to feel. (For an oversimplified example)

I do intent do show the differences in both N/A and supercharged applications. But it's expensive, I have a full-time job, wife, dog, yard to mow, etc. so it's more difficult to find time to do the testing. I assure you the difference is more than the space between the red and blue lines on a dyno pull made at WOT from 2K-5.6K RPM. While there are gains there as some of the reviews here will attest too, the biggest changes and gains are in how the truck drives/feels at normal to aggressive driving. That's where you'll appreciate the tune most for the N/A applications.

S/C applications will still get that improved seat of the pants feel at normal-aggressive driving inputs, but will also see significant increases in output at WOT.

+1. I repurposed an old (but still serviceable) laptop for garage use. Nothing there takes a lot of computing power or storage space.

FWIW, I've found good deals over the years in the Dell Outlet, where scratch & dent and overstock systems sell for considerably under MSRP, especially when paired with one of Dell's almost always available sales/coupons.

That’s awesome and no need to apologize, I totally understand. One of the biggest things we hated was having a customer show up and ask how much more power will their bike make if we dyno tune it. Got to the point where I’d give them a bs answer and tell them their cbr600 would make an extra 60hp.

For me it's about data. I will be dyno testing my personal vehicle. Since I am the one who mentioned it, I'll be clear. I don't need anyone to dyno anything for me. Nor do I need anyone asking me to pay for it for proof. I was actually busting chops. I just want to be clear and I am not trying to be an ass. Dyno numbers are data that proves what we are doing (tuning) is actually working. It also reveals to us where it may not be working. Without a baseline or before and after we have no useable data. That being said, I have zero doubt that there are easy gains to be found as I have tuned my Xrunner for several years before this became available. So for all of you guys that are not sold on the idea, you can always do what I did and spend over 2k to create a harness and make it work with a stand alone ECU. My opinion is that HPTuners has blessed us with is a very reasonable approach to providing a method to tune our vehicles and improve upon what you have now without a doubt. @JustDSM keep up the good work but I ain't funding a dyno session unless it's mine...

Installed the "JustDSM N/A" tune. Definitely has more pick up and go, very much liking it so far. Dont have enough miles to compare fuel economy yet. Comparing it to the OV Tune NA flash, OV feels a bit smoother, just not as aggressive as the JustDSM tune.

Curious if anyone has played with the ACIS settings and if any improvements were found? Might have to play around with that this weekend.

    Thanks for your review man!

I've honestly not played with the ACIS settings, as that was something I expected I'd need a dyno to see.

This gives you the ability to recalibrate your factory ECU (ie: reflash it). More power, improved throttle response, and LOTS more.

I'd say this product is one of the most (or the most) significant products that has been released for these trucks.

The results are definitely in the immediate drivability differences @snowsk8air2 ... like it is very notable.

@JustDSM deserves some sort of virtual forum award for all the hard work he has put in to making right what the engineers @ TRD were not capable of overcoming, or did not want to overcome with their tuning.
