Hardwiring ARB fridge plug

I recently added a roof top tent to my truck that came with a led light bar and a few built in USB plugs wired into the frame.

If I buy a ARB hardwired cigerette lighter plug and run it straight off my battery (with a inline fuse) would I need to worry about killing my battery overnight with just charging a few cell phones and using the LED light throughout the night?

I know the fridges have built in electronics that shut them off once the battery gets low enough. I just can't see how a few USB plugs and a led light bar would draw enough juice to kill the battery within a few hours.

I do have a remote start installed on the truck so I could start the it and let it recharge the battery and then turn it off without leaving the tent if I needed to but want to avoid the possible exhaust fumes if I can.

Anybody have any experience with this?

I ran my fridge off my stock battery for a quite a while with no issues. I recently upgraded to a 27F battery since the stock batteries kinda suck and I have way more capacity now.

 

Always have an emergency battery starter. Saved my behind in several remote locations. Costco sells one.

Had same exact one. But the microusb charging plug got mangled. Looking at it now on my workbench all gutted out. Trying to find the part. In the meantime have the Costco one that I can return.

 

I got mine on Amazon when they were in the 65 dollar range.

 

I think those responding are slightly confused on your question. To clarify, you dont have an ARB fridge but you want to get that hardwire kit to plug your tent into correct?

If so, then that plug wont work. Its designed to work specifically with the fridge. Its not a standard 12v socket, the plug screws into it. If i am reading correctly, you need a regular socket like those from Blue Sea.

And to answer the questuon, charging a phone and running a few led strips for a little while wont hurt at all

 

That's cool. But they are all basically the same. Lithium battery with capacitor assist and circuit board. Noco encloses theirs with a "rugged" style case. But that is meaningless when things like the charge port is made of pot metal.

I keep mine in a Harbor Freight Pelican Knockoff.

 

I hate proprietary connectors. I put anderson powerpole connectors on my edgestar frudge for cross compatibility. I don't know how much current an ARB draws, but my edge star will run a regular non deep cycle battery dead in a day at about 5amps. I use a 100ah LiFePo4 battery and it runs the fridge for 5 days plus without charging. And it only weighs 30lbs. I used 2 trojan T105s for a while, but they are just too freeking heavy.

 

Yeah I just mentioned the arb one to help explain what I wanted to do. The tent came with a power cord that plugs the light/USB ports into a standard cigarette plug. I actually ordered this off Amazon to give a try until I can build a battery box or hardwire a panel in the truck bed somewhere.



This is made for a motorcycle so its water resistant. Figured I'd run power from the battery to this and tuck this away in the bedside compartment

 

I will check later today and see how much power the cord that came with tent pulls. This plug is 5V/3A, hopefully that's enough to power the tent lights at least.

 

I made my whole cubby into a panel. I put an A/B switch to switch between truck bat and deep cycle. I plug the fridge into the powerpole outlet when I need to use it. I put the Li battery in a pelican case with charger and solar connectors on the outside. Never have to open it.

 

Do you have any info on the panel you used? Did you wire in a fuse?

 

Not to thread jack, but did you run air lines to each tire from that block for easy fill up and air down?

 

I've got the GB70 because I like to go overboard with something way more than I need lol
