My background has been automotive for the last 15+ years. I have always been into performance and enhancing the current drivability of a car or truck. My most immediate background where I delved heavily into the Muscle car modding world. (Cams/ intake/transmission/ rear end work) I learned a lot and in the process I learned about HPTuners and discovered what a blessing/ how easy it was, and how powerful it was in utilizing the OEM computer.

As I changed gears and swore I would not mod this truck heavily the inevitable ended up happening, it is in my DNA to tinker I guess. Needless to say after installing the supercharger and hungering for more power out of it I begun to sense the software limits being reached due to the mechanical limits pushing on those boundaries. I had been saying for a long time and most on the supercharger thread will attest to how I was upset I was that the big three had endless support but our tuning was lackluster and that we needed HPTuners years ago. Finally the magic program released its support for us and the rest is tuning history. This is a big deal whether or not you realize it!

The point is trying to make here to anyone who is on the fence, or is not up to speed with this program is that this is the most revolutionary tool to finally be tied to Toyota since the release of the TRD supercharger program and is the final piece of the puzzle we so desperately needed. Don't think, just do it. Your truck will thank you in the long run, I can promise you that much.

From the looks of it, it appears so. 1GR-FE V6 equipped trucks as of current only. @JustDSM can square you away as he is our HPT wizard.

I would think if you are going to play with ACIS then look closely at the vvti map. When ACIS switches to shorter runners, vvti timing I'm sure compensates so if you mess with one you may have to mess with the other for optimal results.

Absolutely! The N/A tune is pretty well good to go at this point. It's had great review from those using it and if your needs require it, I can adapt it around those needs so it's tailored to you and your truck.

Dude just get the Pro version so you can hook up your wideband to the HPT datalogger (stock wraf sensors only go to 11.92afr I believe.

This is by FAR the best investment I have made in the truck!

We are experimenting with different tune parameters right now. Some better than others as we figure out what the engine likes. There are already maps that work VERY well but we are continuing testing.

Another thing with this tuner is now we can really dial in my y-pipe with the vvti to optimize valve overlap at any given rpm. The scavenging effect of the y-pipe can now be matched to valve overlap.

I know you know what you are doing and we are here to help get you dialed in!

I'll give you a y-pipe at cost if you dont agree this is the best thing ever! And I am not getting any compensation from anyone to say that. (This is a one time, one person offer).

Ha! I love the challenge. I've got a ticket into HPtuners about the FJ cruiser support. I've offered mulitple ECU's for reading....Hopefully they'll let me know if the FJ will be supported. I'm assuming they'll have to have a standard definition file on hand? Or is it as simple as the unit "reads" my ecu and we go from there?

It's probably at the bottom of the list, as I only sent it in a couple hours back. It's number: 169783

    Thanks for the quick response!!:fingerscrossed::thumbsup:

Burning through my first half tank of gas I am seeing it has already approached around 123 miles, and I am still just a hair above half. I am pretty excited to see where exactly halfway point lands me mileage wise.

I have confidence in saying I see no reason as to why 250 miles per tank (before the light on) is unreasonable. This is huge in comparison to my previous 210 miles per tank (before fuel light on) mile tracking. The "catalyst over temperature protection" feature really kills your fuel economy on this truck. @JustDSM nailed it right on the head when he said my particular tune was dumping just about 40% additional fuel upon throttle over what was already being allowed.

    Killer.

My 05 prerunner access cab Tacoma was way more fun to drive than my 13 4x4 dclb. It was a lot livelier and peppy. I just thought it was due to the lighter weight, but looking back I can totally see how the mapping was mostly the cause.

Is tire size/gear ratio calibration accounting for any of increase or is that all straight fuel economy. My understanding is that larger tires/different gear ratios could skew actual miles traveled unless re-calibrated.

My speedo has never been recalibrated, so none of that was touched, as my sizing is equal to the OE sizing for 16's. 265/75/16 at least the Pro is equipped that way from the factory and I doubt they touch the PCM to recalibrate tire sizing.
