    That's still 12.5K trucks sold with a 6MT. Assuming 12.5K trucks sold for $35K each= $437,500,000 of trucks sold.

You can't fix all of the complaints with gears. Some of it IS in the calibration.

Not going to argue the point, if you like the way your truck behaves, that's great.

And considering Honda struggles to beat that in total "truck" sales some years, I'd say those numbers are worth continuing with an MT option.

I would fall asleep driving a automatic. How boring can you get.

Not sure. I'd have to see it. My best guess is you're a little light on the gas pedal as you are releasing the clutch - not too low RPM's. More the meld between clutch and gas.

Thank you for the response. I went to the dealer and they told me the U joints have some play and that sound when I press the clutch is "normal". Idk what to make of this to be honest.

What do you mean by "spool against the torque converter"? I've not heard this before.

A shudder means you need to resurface your flywheel and maybe replace the clutch...

I think you're confusing retail selling price with cost to build. I venture to say the profit margin on a manual transmission truck is not nearly as high as an automatic. We saw this with the 4WD Nissan Frontier where the manual transmission turned into a $1500 option. I'm guessing the slight line change was just enough of a PITA for Nissan to make it a $1500 option before Nissan stopped making 4WD versions with a manual.

Never owned an automatic Toyota earliest clutch I replaced was in a used 97 P U it had 206K on it. I can tell you this if you are having problems grinding it's not the gear box you need to mat the clutch pedal on every shift. They are fussy and a bit of a learning curve but once you figure it out no more issues.

That's pretty I'm sure it makes a huge difference in the way it shifts.

This is a rough summary. When you're going slowly or backing up a grade you end up slipping the clutch. It modulates the torque so that you dont stall, especially in the case of our reverse gear. Torque converters are the equivalent clutch mechanism for the autos. They have a few main parts like the mechanical clutch that work to drive fluid to lock the engine to the drive shaft. I assume he meant spooling to refer the the fact that the converter uses a turbine to move the fluid. Essentially it locks via the movement of fluid and a plate preventing back flow. At low input speed it is unlocked since the fluid hasn't "coupled". It works to achieve the same outcome as a mechanical clutch without driver input and without any contact friction. The torque converter will last significantly longer than a mechanical clutch assuming its not abused, they can be damaged by heat and from low fluid levels. The AT takes the cake at slow speed operations when towing, or even normal driving, in terms of wear and tear at least.

Nissan has not stopped making 4x4 Frontier's, you can still get the Pro4x Manual

Yes mostly correct however if the trans is not in lockup and you are pulling a load it constantly "slips" heating the fluid. Yes it is easier backing a trailer with a camper but with my 6 speed I can chose what gear works best and leave it there with no trans heating. A converter at slow speed does have a benefit as a torque amplifier also. That being said I really have no problem with the 6 speed if the going is tough I use low range.

Are you sure? $1500 cost could easily be of 4WD components and higher trim level alone.

2WD manual crew cab S model is still cheaper than a comparable automatic.
