Which Hi-Lift model to get?

    For sure. That's why you should always crib your rig, and not just rely on ANY jack.

    I'm probably going to make my own base for the hi-lift. like an 8"x8" square of 3/16, the weld some 1" angle brackets to the bottom for traction (or maybe some hex bolt heads), and a "box" on the top for the base of the hi-lift. If I splurge on the cable and hardware, I'd probably be all in for $50.

    The extreme is a gimmick. The paint wears off faster than the original. Whichever you get, keep the mechanism well lubricated and get a cover for it. You need it to work and it can’t work if it’s rusted.
