Previously I've posted a similar question in the Gen 2 forum. I have had three white Tacomas. Every one of them has developed an unsightly exhaust stain on the rear quarter panel right above the exhaust pipe...with and without Tacoma exhaust tips. It appears to be a combination of exhaust condensation and road dust. It occurs most often in winter. I haven't found any chemical or detailing clay that will remove it. However, it will come off with Meguiars Ultimate Compound applied with a dual action polisher. With Tacoma paint being so thin, I try to be careful with the compound and would much prefer a more paint safe stain removal process. Any suggestions?

    Try using a paint coating.

I have a Super White Tacoma with 80,000 miles on it and have no such problem. Before I offer any advice, can you possibly post pics of your issue?

Right now I am dealing with a wintery mess. Will try for a pic when I can get outside to take one.

A coating might be a good idea. At least then when I remove the stain, the coating will protect the paint.

I've had the same issue, just more of a film becasue mine isn't white. I didn't find a solution and I was also already planning on cutting my exhaust for more offroad clearance so I just ended up cutting the exhuast and the problem no longer exists.
