1982 Toyota Pickup Build Thread

Hey there!
Thanks for checking out my build thread! This is my project truck/daily driver/first car. Who would even be crazy enough to daily one of these things? I picked it up around December 2018 in Sacramento, CA, then drove it to Tacoma, WA. I plan to make this a fairly capable off-road truck, but I still want a "comfortable" daily. Anyway, this car already has been in a crash, photos below. The original truck's owner put this little thing through total hell and back, and it somewhat shows. Nearly 20-30% of the miles on it (150,000), were hauling snowmobiles up a rocky mountain. After that, the next owner restored it. He gave it a paint job, rebuilt the engine, gave it new interior pieces, and more. How far do you think I can get without doing a lift?

Congrats on the purchase! I have been daily driving my 85 for two months now. Love it.

 

Doing some small things while I save. Giving the windshield wiper mounts some love since the are kind of a eyesore all rusted. Sanding then applying POR-15. I stripped one screw to all hell, so later I'll come back to it.

 

Landed a tailgate! Pics tomorrow.

 

Boom! Going to a paint shop later this..... month?

Cool truck!

 

Mounted a Hi-Lift after offroading. Mo' parts are coming in soon too.

 

Went offroading with @Jasonstacoma and @Dirk Diggler. Had fun dudes.

also, did you get your new tailgate painted and mounted? any new mods?

 

Thanks for the compliment! The newest mod is that hi-lift. The newest problem is the front left knuckle is leaking .
I'm in the process of stripping the paint off the tailgate myself instead of paying for sandblasting. I reckon by the end of the month it'll be mounted.

 

Got my new Cooper ST/MAXX tires! So stoked over these.
