Once again coming to the well...of knowledge. I've searched the site and no answer. My driver side electric window rolls down fine but to roll it back up just doesn't happen except at a centimeter or two at a time over 20 mins or so. It makes that uuuu sound while moving a tad and then stops. Once it stops you don't hear the motor trying. I pulled the panel off and attempted to push the window up while moving the switch but it does not budge. Now I would have thought that if an electric motor goes one way it would just as easily go the other way but not here. I have lubed the tracks with silicone thinking that was it but no go. That's when I tried pushing it up. The window is not binding anywhere.

So can the motor work in one direction and not the other? I figured if the actuator mechanism was binding up that me pushing the bottom of the window up while working the switch would over come that. So do I need a replacement motor? What do you all think. Thanks.

Motor is bad and/or the contacts on the master switch are corroded. Usually the former is what causes it most of the time.

BAM! I figured I'd get what I needed from you. So the motor will spin one way but not the other?

The motor works by switch polarity on each contact. The motor connection has two pins, apply 12v to one and ground to the other and it goes one way. Reverse the connections and it goes the other way.

    I’d replace the motor.

The motors go bad. If it’s grinding in one state of movement something mechanical is bad in the motor.

Doubt it. It’s almost always the window motor followed by failure of the master switch. The regulator never goes bad unless it gets physically warped.

Well off to the bone yard tomorrow. It was another post that I read earlier today regarding all 1st gen doors being the same. I'll get it off a DBC. Can't get the switch though as I have Ext cab(2 switches not 4). I guess I could put 12v to the plug and then reverse to see if motor works both directions with the switch out of the equation. Anyone know which two wires on plug are hot and ground?

The motor only has two pins.

I wanted to check at the plug that goes to door switch. Hard to get to motor while mounted in the door.

Found FSM diagrams and tests for motor and switch. I'll test them in the morning and let y'all know. Thanks for the stimulation.
