Definitive way to tell if your 2005-2008 truck has a rear Mechanical LSD

Put in your VIN. If you have a 2005-2008 and the results show that you have any TRD Sport Package OR SR5 Package #8, you have a mechanical LSD. Any other package you do not.

I came across this in my search for a new rear axle. I need a new 2005-2008 axle with LSD and I knew that all TRD Sport Package have LSD, but only some SR5 Pre-Runners have LSD and only some SR5 4WD (none TRD Off-Road package) have LSD.

I ran the VIN's on about 75 possible donar trucks. Also looked up available packages and features on all 2005-2008 Tacoma's.

So there is your answer That's why some SR5 Pre-runner's have LSD and also why some 4WD have LSD

LKQ DOES NOT DIFFERENTIATE Pre-runner rear axles that have mechanical LSD from any other axle. They classify them all as 'no locker'. So if you contact LKQ for an axle, you have to get the VIN and run it. Another LKQ fun fact. They classify all manual transmission pre-runner as 5 speed 3.31 ratio. Those axles are dirt cheap! But some are 6 speed manual TRD Sport which came with A04C 3.73 mechanical LSD! So if your louking for a cheap (few hundred vs $1000) upgrade to a 3.73 Mechanical LSD... For once you can f*ck LKQ if you do your homework
