What are the chances I’ll ever see a tune for my Lexus LS430?

What engine are you using? The support functionality is really up to @HPTuners not Justin and based on the fact that Lexus is a luxury line before a performance line outside of the IS series I would say the chances are slim unless you are running the 1GR-FE or the Tundra V8s.

Well it’s kind of a tundra motor. 3UZ-FE. Although when people think tundra they think the 3UR or something. Mine is just a lower displacement higher compression 2UZ running a premium tune.

Ahh yes, I recognize the engine family.. Okay let me re-ask, because what is important here is the operational PCM.

What PCM is it? There is a specific support list which drive all the engines supported by HPTuners. If yours is a 3UZ or a 2UZ then you should be good to go.

The differance between the 2nd gen and 3rd gen lug nuts. I dont like them. So much less surface area for the socket to grab hold of.

I'm bout to torch this thing.

So mechanic calls, he says he doesn't think the rear bearings need to get changed, he thinks its a gear whine of some sort either from Trans/Transfer case/Rear diff, we just swapped the rear diff...he said the transfer case fluid looked perfectly fine. I said change the rear bearings anyways since I already bought em. Dunno what to do if that doesn't fix it. Gonna have to just take it back to the shop that set up the diff and let him rip the rear end apart. That should be a fun bill. FML dude.

Well... 2nd gen lug nuts can leave you stranded. I always carry a good set of tools including impact wrenches.

^yeah done that before. Toyota lug nuts are a joke. Especially when some grease jockey at a tire place just goes to town with an impact, next time you touch em the caps pop off like that.

    No idea honestly :anonymous:

I’ll check when I get through this 2 hours of traffic. Most people with this engine are from the GS430 guys that pursue performance. Most of the time they just go AEM piggy. Supercharged guys I can count on one hand.

I just took mine to the dealer since I don’t have a press and they do these all the time. My local tire shop wouldn’t change my faulty rear bearing. Took it to the dealer, had bearing changed, and voila the noice was gone.

Yeah he said it wasn't the wheel bearing, but a brand new diff shouldn't be noisy like that right off the bat. I'm leaning wheel bearings, since anytime I was turning at high speeds the noise went down or went away. The new drive shaft is coming on wednesday also, so hopefully I change that out and everything is fine after that. If not I'm gonna just take it back to that shop and let him rip it apart. I would rather just pay one more big bill and have it fixed than keep running after it part by part and not fix it.

I had a lot of those as spares from my 4Runner. Perfect lugs for when I went to ARP studs. Then I switched to kyo-ei lug nuts.

All you people who went green solid coupler. Did it sound a lil louder with the rattle at idle? I’m assuming so since it’s solid compared to the stock coupler with the spring to help with shock loading the rotor pack. @Roostfactor @DocME @SManZ

Yeah mines I little louder too. I had some play in the pulley when the belt was off. But this solid coupler gives zero play! Lil more responsive too

I'm still using the stock coupler but I have heard that the solid coupler is louder at idle.

Did you just get a rebuild?

Those were stock. ‘09, never changed them until I busted the one. Now they are all new. Maybe 2nd gen sport has longer ones?

Nah not a rebuild quite yet. I need to find someone close by that does rebuilds with presses. Think it would be fun to watch the magic. Anyway just new oil and coupler. My spring had a clean break on the stock one. Good news my blower was completely full of oil and it actually looked pretty good for 95k. Maybe it’s time for a 2.3  @Roostfactor
