I've had my Tacoma for about a year and a half now and I've put quite a few miles on it in that time. I was washing it the other day and noticed that I took a rock to the grill that had chipped the factory coating on it....so a good reason to do some updating. I took the grill off and decided to paint it black. First attempt was to scuff it good with a red pad and shot it with peel coat. Absolute disaster. Hated the way it looked, how easy it was to scratch and tear, so round two. I cleaned all of the peel coat off, which on this grill was an absolute PITA! Scotch brite again and shot it high gloss black fusion paint. I really like the look initially and we will see how it holds up. Here's a before and after. 20190420_141012.jpg 20190420_142352.jpg

The chrome trim on the original might be the dumbest thing on these trucks. Just changing that makes everything better.

Nice job on the grille too.

NICE. Looks 1000 times better than the chrome. I owned my TRD OR for maybe a week before that grill HAD TO GO. Buddy of mine at the Toyota parts dept sold me a PRO grill at his cost. Sold my chrome grill on eBay and never looked back. But yea man, you did your truck a really big favor right there. Looks really nice.
