hey there, have a 2nd gen double cab (2010). Have been messing around with the audio for a bit and stumbled on some speakers I am hoping to find tomorrow. If I can find them the plan is to run two 8’s in door, stock location. The tweeters are allready mounted in sail panels. The trick will be incorporating the mid, which is on the bigger side and will not fit in the stock tweeter location without cutting the door card. Good thing is this driver is sealed, no back waves and it will fit inside a 4” pvc hard cap which can be cut down for the 1.5” mounting depth. My thought is to place them in or near the door pocket, angled upwards pointing towards the dome light. They will be down low in front of the 8” drivers.
Has anyone installed speakers in this location? worried it will bring down the stage. I won’t know for sure until I try but reaching out for thouhts or experience.

    Thanks for your time

Well things don’t always go as planned. I started making “pocket pods” out of 3” pvc which fit perfectly in the cup holder. Then cut a 1.5” ring off of a 4” coupling to mount the speaker in. The ring then sat on top of the 3” pvc. Problem i had was installation and removal. The “pod” would have to be built in place. I did not go for the extra effort, becusse of the concern if speaker would sound good in that location.
Ended up using a piece of mdf and some headliner. Hooked up the dsp yesterday and with a rough tune i am happy with the location. Used same T/A distance as the 6.5” woofer in doir. Still looking for the 8” drivers. Hopefully today T/A will be dialed in, center is off to the right. Coming from silver flutes and various tweeters, xt25 for one, the Dyn’s are a major improvement
