Makes perfect sense! Thanks for detailed explanations both of you!!! I assume its perfectly safe for regular 87 octane as well, and probably has the same ignition table changes for premium 91+ based on knock sensor readings.

Lastly... do we know if the JustDSM base tune will pass smog? (unfortunatly gotta deal with that here in CA... i mean i guess i could flash stock at the time, then flash back... but im curious)

PLEASE come back with results (tag me in them would be awesome! as this thread is moving quick!) As one of my main things would be for a more efficient setup (better mpgs) and 500ish bucks in gas savings over a year is pretty damned impressive assuming not crazy miles driven per year. (not to mention a truck with a lil more pep in its step!)

I'd love to know that as well. I'm confident that it would have no problems passing but to verify, I'll cover costs of testing if you'd like to put it to the test.

I’m still way back at page 14 but wanted to jump ahead and say thanks to @BassAckwards I’ll be joining in with an NA ‘08 Auto. Kinda curious to see where we can take it. I’ve got some catching up to do but I’m pretty encouraged with the knowledge and teamwork going on in this thread.

I was skeptical that it could make such a big difference, but it pulls way better.

I believe ya. I haven’t seen 1 person disappointed yet. I really do dig bassackwards new engine bay. I’m trying to find a shop near me that deal with hp. This shit is way over my head for me to be messing with. I also went back and forth with ov today. He says he’s still supporting the few that want it. So for at least the immediate future I want to see what he can do for me in regards to a more custom tune.

Once we get some empirical mpg numbers back.... and maybe even a dyno back to back stock vs the basline NA tune (that would be awesome, but wishful thinking), Ill likely jump in on this bandwagon, seems like real positive results even from us Stock everything NA'd crowd. I have yet to need to take my truck to get smogged... but i have a hunch this go around (6 years old) lovely CA will require it (this will occur sometime before november). Worst case scenario, it doesnt pass, ill make sure to go to a place that allows a free retest.

But honestly given how they do the testing under such light loads (15 and 25mph constant)... i doubt there will be a single issue.
