It'll still look this good 20yrs from now!!!

3rd Jens aren’t loved now, why would they be in 20 years?

I have a strong feeling you were wronged by someone who drove a 1st gen taco. Maybe left standing out in the rain on a cold November night after your boyfriend dumped you and drove off in his 1st gen. :rain: Maybe...

The way some over-praise the 1st/2nd gen Tacomas reminds me of the slack-jawed morons in the late 80's that swore that those newfangled GSXR750/1000s were "flimsy pieces of shit that won't hold together if you run em hard. I had me a nine hunnerd Kowalski that would do 125 mph in 2nd gear...I never did find out how fast it would go cos I shut it down at 200 mph and stlll wasn't in top gear...You had to be careful that it didn't flip over backwards when you shifted into 5th"

In 20 years the 3rd gen will be an old truck, and 2nd gen fags will still be whiney little bitches.

No. I just tire of the BS that surrounds everything in the past.

Old cars suck.....and I’m old enough to be nostalgic, but I’m not.

Automobiles are the one item that have been getting consistently better. They run longer, require less maintenance, rust less, look better, burn less fuel, produce less pollution, are more powerful, more comfortable, and more capable.

A 1st Gen Tacoma pickup is not a beloved article in my mind. It’s just a clunker waiting to be melted down along with the other 90s clunkers.

If you have one that you love.....great.....but let’s not kid ourselves.

I never got the shit talk between owners of different eras, it’s a truck, not the other kids on your son’s soccer team.

I’ve had my truck for 13 years and put over 200k miles on it, wheeled the piss out of it, still daily drive it, still carry 1000 lbs in it, no frame rot because we don’t salt roads much and I don’t bother driving in the snow around here, swap the ball joints every 100k, and it’s never once left me stranded so no worries.

My bet is in 20 years there will still be a ton of 3rd gens on the road because I imagine there will still be a lot of people who rely on them or who have put a lot of money into them and have sentimental attachments.

Not unlike older Toyotas, as long as they run, people will use them. It’ll be a different class of people using them in 20 years kind of like the first gens now because people with lower incomes will start to be able to afford them and more construction guys and first time truck buyers will go for them.

Who knows when that will be though, they’re so fucking expensive now and Toyotas hold their value so well, you still see low mileage 1st gens in the $15,000 range around here which just seems bonkers, but the demand is still high because they’re good trucks that function well on narrow trails and tight city streets, so who knows how long it’ll be before a third gen is reasonably priced in the used car market.

Like the older trucks there will be a market for them until they’re no longer practical to fix, that’s why you don’t see a lot of CJ’s/older jeeps and older American make trucks on the road, because they were never that good of vehicles in comparison to Toyotas and never held their value that well.

At this point I may be forced into a newer truck because it’s getting hard to acquire parts since Toyota is discontinuing them. Things just rot away after 20 years of constant use, that’s just how it goes.
