They’ve actually denied me for seat belt issue too, the wire harness was messed up on the passenger seat which causes the SRS light to come on, they wanted me to pay $60 for them to fix it since they said my truck warranty was voided, again because of the lift

If they perform said safety recall on a truck thats lifted and has bigger tires for example and the TSS messes up because it wasn't designed to be sitting 3" higher at a different angle or whatever and causes you to be in accident. Could they not be held liable since they performed the recall/update on the truck while it was modified? I'm not saying I agree with it, but I can see how there just trying to brush off any chance of being held liable for playing with a safety system on a truck thats no longer built the way the system was originally designed to work with.

But if you get into an accident with a faulty tss to blame, and you put on a grille not even made for your trim of truck, YOU are to blame.

So people saying Toyota shouldn't replace them on lifted trucks because it changes the angle, should Toyota not warranty anything when you have a loaded bed, making the rear sag, thus changing the angle of the sensor? Is TSS, not supposed to. Be used with weight in the bed?

What in the blue fuck is so hard to understand about this or any other recall or warranty issue that a manufacturer denies????

IF YOU MODIFY A PART OF THE TRUCK, TOYOTA NO LONGER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT PART!

If you change your grill and your tailgate latch fails during the warranty period, Toyota is supposed to fix it on their dime.

If you change your grill and the TSS fails or there is a recall (or TSB) on the radar, it's your problem.

If you lift your truck and your third brake light leaks during the warranty period, Toyota is supposed to fix it on their dime.

If you lift your truck and the TSS fails or there is a recall (or a TSB) on the radar, it's your problem.

Modifiying your truck carries risk. Don't modify if you can't handle the risk. That simple. Sorry life is not always about having fun. Being an adult requires maturity. Times are changing, this is not 1982 anymore. Lifting your truck is no longer a simple task. If you want to lift your Tacoma, by all means do so. But don't expect Toyota to bail you out when it has unintended consequences down the road.

So TSS is not designed to work with a loaded bed? Does it say that anywhere in the manual? Because that changes the angle of the sensor probably more so than a lift.

Manual transmission took care of that crawl control issue for me. Oh wait, so didn’t getting a sport.

Ya, I know no rear locker.

The sensor was calibrated for load angle change in the stock position. If one moves the sensor by a few inches it's likely that the sensor is outside the range of calibration for long distances because now with the bed loaded that inch or two of height change turns into feet over a long distance.

People have gotten denied for running tires that would lift the truck less than a half inch. So either it can compensate for some or it can't.

So will they deny guys with pros since they sit an inch higher in the front and there is no difference in the software or hardware used between that and an SR5 for example.

Not exactly true. I read on here somewhere the Pro requires a different programming fix than the non pro

Was it a different programming fix or was it just a different procedure due to the different location on the grill? I know someone posted the instruction for the fix on here.

I purchased my 19 on 3/30, a few days before the recall came out. When I search my VIN with the Toyota app to see if there are any recalls for my truck is says no.

Should I still take my truck in for the recall before I swap out the grill for the PRO grill?

Why would you? The recall does not effect ALL gen 3's, just some. If your truck's vin does not come up then the dealer will not do the radar "fix".

No but everyone keeps talking about the angle of the sensor, the angle of the sensor probably changes more with a load in the bed than with most lifts. Also people are getting denied for running slightly larger tires, which does not change the angle more than a load in the truck.

Just thought it may be a glitch or something where my truck's VIN doesn't show as needing the recall.

I looked at mine and there is no 3M tape. Don't really care about the tape as I can do it myself if need be, but the programming is something that caught my attention.
