I loved my 4runner, but got really excited about a cement grey Tacoma with a dealer "TRD pro package." Sold the '07 4Runner with 140k miles for $12k, which felt fair. I had a relatively new OME 2" suspension kit on it, atacoma moab.jpg nd it rode like a dream.

The "TRD Package" I got from the dealer kind of worried me at first. It gave it a really nice lift, but it used the factory springs and UCAs, and got the lift from the shocks and a rear block :( in this toytech/eibach kit.

I also got some cool looking side steps that apparently don't work as a hi lift jack point.

Before the trip this weekend, I installed a C4 bed rack, and mounted a Tepui rooftop tent on there.

The 17" TRD rims and BFG 275/70/17s are great. For some reason I had them at 48 PSI, and lowered them to 39/42 when we got to Moab. (FYI I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to off-roading, I just try not to get into sketchy stuff).

So, just got back from our first long trip to Moab in the new Tacoma. Highway driving was a little weird. Transmission seemed to hesitate to kick into 5th (or 6th?) at 75-80. Ride was insanely rough on the way out, either due to my tires being at 48 PSI, or the rough toytec suspension.

Once we got into Moab, and aired down the tires, the Tacoma was in it's element and an absolute dream to drive. We went out some BLM roads around Arches and were able to clear some pretty sketchy stuff that I never would have attempted in my 4Runner. The giant hood makes things interesting when you are going up anything steep! Despite getting into some sketchy areas, I somehow managed to never bottom out or do any damage.

That said, eager to get a new suspension on here at some point. Not sure how that works with the new car warranty. Curious about some lighting mods, and figuring out how the hell to store stuff in my very impractical bed.
