Had an 05 DC TRD OR a while back, was active on Toyota Nation. Gen 3 forum at Toyota Nation seems to be very slow, compared to the 2nd Gen when I was there.

Had to sell my 05 Taco (getting out of debt), now coming back to Tacoma. Shopping for TRD again. Loved my Offroad (just mild trail, logging roads, etc), and it seems that TRD OR is still a better truck than Sport? With OR I gain a locker, but Sport I get a hood scoop? Is that really all the difference (aside from suspension)?
    Thank you!

That's pretty much it. If you get the 4x4 I believe the OR also gets crawl control?

I got a sport to get all the little upgrades from the sr5, but I prefer the color keyed styling on the body as opposed to the black trim and chrome bumper caps. Of course you can come back after and change all that out if you really want

If I do any off roading it will be very light duty dirt trails, I don't want to hurt my baby. So I'm in a 2wd either way :notsure:

I like to keep at least one 4x4 vehicle in the family, so it will be a 4x2 RAV4, Town and Country kids hauler (all paid for and staying), and Taco in 4x4.
I will be getting a technology package also (for Blind Spot monitoring), so OR will come a color keyed bumper, if I am reading Toyota's website right.
It just seems that e-Locker is a better "deal" than a scoop. I guess at the end I need to test drive both and check the suspension.

PS it will be used more like a farm truck than off road now (have an orchard and a some land, moved from AK to GA in the meantime), hence my interest in e-locker. Getting stuck sucks, and GA clay can be a pain to get out of.

Sport is 'tuned' stiffer for pavement pounders. OR is softer for more compliant off road use.

Both are capable 4wd on and off pavement.

Where you drive 90% of the time is the important consideration IMHO. That and how they 'feel' to you.

So, test drive, test drive, test drive. Extendend. In your daily enviroment.

Many come in here whining about features, fitment, mpg, etc etc., all of which could have been known either with reading or good test drives. Don't be one of them.

We do not make THAT much money!
But now I need to price it, I am curious....

Edit, looked at MSRP. No way I am getting a Pro, it is way out of my league!
PPS I do not like moonroofs either. They ALL leak eventually!

Yeah if you're going to use the truck for work, and definitely getting a 4x4, I would go OR no question.

And yeah I've seen the text package does get you the color matched bumper, which is a nice touch.

Only thing left to decide is access cab, double cab, or long bed!

Loved having a DC, and short bed is good enough to haul some lumber, and easier to park. If it is anything over 8 ft, I put a bed extender in the hitch.
Looked at Tundra, and it is just too big for what I need to do.
I have been shopping online with different dealers this morning, and a couple of them are getting what I am looking for in May.
Need to go test driving this weekend.

Welcome to TW good luck on your search! I have the Sport with the premium package and am very pleased. Though I am a flatlander here in Florida but a lot of sugar sand.
