With the long weekend I was away from the computer for a few days sorry to leave ya stranded there for a bit!
Ya I'm like a 10min drive from the border so getting the dogs hooked up to the sled and head out from igloo shouldn't be too much trouble.

Honestly the water issue isn't an issue at all, really I was looking for something that would be better than a cargo net, that stops sticky fingers from stealing my kids stroller (the thing costs more than my tires!)
I've been leaning more to a foldable hard tonneau than a 1 piece. The rollable looks like it could be pretty convenient as well.
The bed gets used for a variety of things such as dirtbikes, plywood/lumber, and now baby paraphernalia, so having the adaptability of a folding/rolling tonneau would be pretty key for me. 90% of the time it'll be low lying objects that would fit under the tonneau but the dirtbikes and larger Home Depot runs are pretty seasonal (spring/summer)

EDIT: I should add, being able to use the rails would be pretty important as I use them for securing sheet goods etc when the tonneau would be partially/fully open.

Undercover or Bakflip folding covers are some of the best options I’ve seen. I considered and researched all those. Revolver also an option. But it hangs up in below zero temps.

I'm happy with my undercover Ultra-flex cover but my largest issue with the cover is that the rubber gasket(?) tends to freeze and stick to the rear hatch (and not along the rails running the length of the bed - see image) preventing me from opening it, but i keep a small ice scraper that fits in between and breaks the ice that holds the two parts with ease. probably use some grease and there shouldn't be an issue past that.
