    Your "Tacoma parts" are direct descendants of motor racing. there are not 2 different types of vehicles, (racing-civilian) what is found by racing is USUALLY incorporated into street vehicles and issues with street vehicles find their way into racing....it is "free" R&D and torture testing.
    ABS brakes were first used in racing, electronic suspension, dive control, real time telemetry....all racing applications that are now found in "civilian" vehicles. Racing has everything to do with your "Tacoma parts".

    IMHO the Callahan are superior to the oem rotors,
    you continue to study more on it and believe what you want and I'll believe what I want, and the world will still go around, unless you think it's flat :popcorn:

    Team Suzuki Matt Mladdin racing..........championships.....MANY of them.....brakes were Yoyodyne cast iron, no slots,no drill holes......

    I bought these last year and have been loving them. Flushed the brake fluid after install. Brakes are stronger, feel better and wear nicely. Hard to bead $160 delivered for rotors and pads. Keep an eye out, mine had a Amazon coupon when I ordered, saved another $20.

    I have a tendency to not believe everything that I read on the web.
    Everything he stated might be true, but my experience with Callahan rotors and ceramic pads has been excellent.

    @jblack , yeah definitely understand that. Not criticizing! I have had good luck with Powerstop rotors in the past. Ill have to look into Callahans as well

    I recently installed these. Scored them from Amazon for $124 and couldn't pass up the good deal. Stopping power is noticeably better, but I wouldn't give Powerstop my vote for "best rotor brake pad combo" for our trucks. Also, I'd strongly advise against drilled or slotted rotors if you off road. Had a rock get stuck in mine and it made a terrible grinding noise until I dislodged it.

    I've put around 2k miles on them so far. They do look pretty damn good :)

    Next replacement will be Brembo blank rotors with OEM or EBC pads. Or EBC all around.

    This is the rotor brake setup on one of our $5.5m helicopters. If I strayed away from OEM I’d have to go with Brembo.

    I religiously use brembo blanks and their pads. It started a few vehicles ago and ive been happy with the pricing and I am confident in the braking power and feel.

    I have a pop up camper on my rig full time, weight is around 6,000 pounds so I am looking for my next heavy duty solution, currently running PowerSlot slotted rotors but when I had new pads put on last, I got bad vibration so I think it's time to re-do the whole thing. I can put a good budget towards it...nothing costs as much as doing breaks on my Audi RS7 ( $2,000 per axle ) so I am ready to change it up.

    Brembo?
    Stoptech?
    Powerstop?

    Something that can handle heavy duty breaking...

    If you require heavy braking power.. your best bet is probably a hefty 4/6 piston big brake kit.

    I reiterate. You will probably need a 6 piston kit. Tacoma's are 4 piston stock. You may gain some improvement from that kit but you would essentially be purchasing red calipers and the rotor diameter will be similar to stock. You wouldn't be much better off than some of the suggested combinations everyone has listed. An aftermarket 6 piston kit would increase the rotor to 355mm/380mm and you will gain 2 additional pistons over the oem calipers. The only downside I can see to running a 6 piston kit is that you will have to use 18" to even fit the 355mm rotors. Stop tech/Rotora both make variations of 6 piston BBK. Be forewarned, it wont be as nearly cheap as you thought.

    95% of people will never have an issue with either slotted/drilled/blanks + _____ company pads and most of it boils down to personal preference. If that is your actual budget cost, I would go with brembo blanks and their pads for sub $200, swap to SS brake lines and ensure you have new fluid. If you truly utilize your vehicle where you believe stopping power is a must, BBK, all the way.
