Hey all, I've used so much helpful information from here and now I've got a head scratcher. I just had a compustar basic remote start and keyless entry added to my base model utility. It works great but after I start the truck and before I put the key in the on position, my tire pressure light is blinking. It does go away once I have the key on. Any thoughts why this would happen or if I should be concerned? Had this installed at a great local shop.

Can’t help ya but post like this make me want to hand my Toyota dealer the $550 they want for a remote start. The $179 DIY kit is very tempting but I don’t want issues on my brand new 2018 Off Road. Good luck figuring this out.

This is normal, the interrupt line you had to put in on the TPMS line causes that. It does so on my 12 Volt Solution kit as well. Not to worry!

With the regular key it will flash and the security light will be on until the key take over procedure is done.

You only have to interrupt the TPMS ign if you want to control the remote start with the OEM remote.

Exactly, it’s all plug and play minus tapping of Tpms. Most of my customers have no concerns tapping the wire as I supply all the connectors with my kits.

I took my 2018 Tacoma to the dealer to get a remote start installed they outsourced it to "Kool Kars" and now the TPMS system is not working the light flashes and when you put the key in and turn the ignition it stays on all the time and it doesn't give the readings on the display for all 4 tire pressures and the service writer is trying to tell me that on my model and year vehicle that's how it is I lose a safety feature to gain a remote start at least that's what he says they told him the third party that installed it... So now I'm supposed to drive this new vehicle I just bought 2 weeks ago with 44 miles on it from the toyota dealer with a defective TPMS system ovar a aftermarket remote start ... And they did tap into the green wire for the TPMS module .

Sounds like they tapped the Tpms incorrectly.

That's what I told the service writer either they wired it in wrong or it's a defective remote start module... They supposedly took it back to where they got it installed and that's when the third-party said that's how it is based on my vehicle. SMH the third party not wanting to take responsibility

I sell these all the time, if they wire it backwards that could cause the issue. Hopefully they didn’t charge you too much for this as you could buy for 250 and do it yourself.

I sell the fortin one, same as all the other vendors sell. 100% plug and play minus the Tpms wire.

Take matters into your own hands, retap those wires, they may not be connected, vehicle will still start if it’s not connected but other things happen. On our kit you won’t be able to lock or unlock via the fob after a remote start and key take over won’t work. Do a continuity test with a Volt meter. If the connections are sound, then look up the brand they used, find out which wires ARE the TPMS in case the wires/colors they used aren’t even it. There is no such thing as rendering one thing useless to gain another. Sounds like you’re talking to an IGNORANT sales guy...they never know shit. Toyota dealerships buy my kits, they would never allow rendering TPMS useless after remote start and key takeover on a brand new vehicle, how would they explain that to a customer? And the excuse your sales man gave you...well that’s embarrassing...you can sell cars like that, but you already bought it so he really doesn’t care to remedy this silliness. I’d love to slap him and whoever sold that kit, shouldn’t be selling them, and if they truly do that, then the manufacturer should not be manufacturing but I doubt it goes that far up in ignorance. Get the brand and model/part number, I’ll help you out.

    It’s normal for HKEY.
Push to start doesn’t do this.

Toyota buys these $179 kits and charges $900 to unsuspecting folks.

So I can still use your remote start without cutting the TPMS wire? I do not want to tap into factory wiring.

It has buttons to remote unlock/lock doors only - is that what you mean?

Correct, you have to cut Tpms wires for it to work.
