So the other day I decided I didn’t want a swingout anymore and cut it off. Decided to repurpose it to build an in bed tire holder that’ll bolt through the bed with 1/2” hardware.

While at joes today I bribed him into cutting out my base plate for me on my chunk of 1/4” I brought. What would have taken me forever with an angle grinder and drill. Took less than ten minutes to design and cut on the table.

    https://youtu.be/j4JOE9HTUjg

Then repurposed my swingout and built the tire holder. This thing is SO BEEFY. That tire isn’t going anywhere.

I thought i wanted one originally but not at a 2k price tag. Then i got rear ended and took the opportunity to try a tire-gate. Realized that was dumb too. I love having a tailgate again (which i got for free from my buddy). For offroad the spare will either be in the bed or up on the roof rack now that i got rid of the (overated) rtt

Headache rack is almost done. Probably gonna install some louvers....likely all the way across. Anyone have tips on what spacing generally looks good and provides good visibility and protection?

Got some Harbor Freight tie downs...cut the bolt tabs off and welded on.

When I was thinking where to go with my spare I looked at swing outs but with the use of my truck it would have been a real pain.

I guess if your not loading and unloading from the rear they might be ok.

Haha, no I traced it out and used a Dremel with small cut off wheels. But theres an old fella I know who can cut anything with the plasma...if you can draw it he can cut it.

Literally the only benefit, lmao. Somewhere to put trash. But ive seen some people just put it around the tailgate. I just use mx gas cans. Easy to pour and no bs shit.

2nd gen shifters have an internal bushing to minimize in cab noise and vibrations. Over time it gets all shitty and sloppy. This is my solution. Gonna try shifting as is and if I hate it, I’ll add my shift knob on.
