I cant decide on a new one.
But, i am leaning hard towards the Griot's 6" based on many good reviews.
I have a PC but want to get a new one and convert that to a 3"

I was almost sold on long throw polishers but i cant see where it would benefit me unless I had a ton of clients and it made sense to be efficient.

Griot's 6" DA with a 5" backing plate & 5.5" pads. Works great for my needs.

Flex 3401. It is a beast. I also have a porter cable 7424 that is setup for smaller pads.

Buy once. I started with the PC but grew tired of it taking forever to correct paint and the vibration is ridiculous. So upgraded to the Flex.

^^this. It's a nice polisher for a guy that isn't a full-timer and doesn't wanna break the bank. Lifetime warranty and more powerful than a Porter Cable.

Mud, which I rub into the paint with branches and bushes. It makes it appear like you can look straight through the paint. Really nice effect.

If you're just working on your vehicles the Griots 6" works great. You can always change the backing plates to 1, 2, 3, 5" as well if you ever needed to without having to buy any other machines. Plus the Griots Garage polisher has a lifetime warranty. You also have to take into account which pads you're going to use along with which liquids to get the results you are looking for.

i went with the griots, going to use my PC as a 3"
As much as i want a rupes, i cant justify the cost at the moment unless i open the door to more clients.

I have the exact same combination of machines. I LOVE my Flex, but if you're just doing occasional detailing, the Porter-Cable (or the Griot's) are probably more cost efficient.

I have Griots with the 3” head for small areas and the Rupes as the work horse. The Flex or Rupes both good machines

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
I had a Porter Cable 7424 until someone borrowed it (read stole) it from my garage. I found that had happened on the day I was due to polish two or my vehicles. So I went to Harbor Freight and bought a PC knock off. It turns out the HF is easier to use for long jobs. I like the handle positioning better.
