because the 3rd gen auto is under geared from the start before you add tires or weight.

    Ditto this.
I fucking HATE small displacement engines in big vehicles.
Its a 4600lb TRUCK and should have a small V8 in it.

Nitro gear says 31-33" tires 4.88 gears. 34-37" tires 5.29 gears. The double overdrive in the AT's is different from the RPM band in the MT's. I just bought 4.88's

Normally not a fan of the quicksand, but with the topper, wheels, and black OR flares that REALLY works for me.

So, yesterday I sent the email with my calibration info. Someone said you don’t have to do that anymore. So, this morning I tried to flash my truck, but I don’t have any tune files to flash. So I do have to wait on an email response?

considering there's people running 4.88 with factory tires.... 5.29 with a 33 is not that crazy...

I think that a 2.4L turbo will be interesting, especially in terms of tuning and turbo upgrades. Seems to be the trend now. Would love to see a 4.0L Turbo Diesel as used on the Australian Land Cruisers.

They go with the 5.29 and 33s because even with STOCK tires, switching to 5.29 put it at about the same rotation as the manuals. I believe with the proper tuning they'll run very nice. Which is why I have a set sitting in my garage but haven't swapped over yet since I wanted to wait for the gearing specific tunes.

Not in the manual, but with the AT some guys (@JoeCOVA) are reporting the 5.29’s are surprisingly drivable even with stock tires...

am I wrong that regearing should be based off of 1st gear thru direct 1 to 1 gear (in this case 4th )
Regearing to use over drive and double overdrive is wrong . Just use 4th and maybe 5th gear if using taller tires .
If the tires are so tall that 1 to 1 gear is wrong , you need to regear .
