Whatever

The year was 1987. I had split up with this gal I had been seeing for a couple of years. Me and her brother were pretty good friends and her parents really liked me for some reason. A few months after splitting, her mom asked me if I wanted to go on vacation with the family in Florida. Why did they ask me, I have no clue. I asked if the gal was going, yessir. I was very hard on the sauce at the time and this was my response (almost word for word).
I'll go but I'm not going to a mall, I'm not going shopping, I'm not going out to eat. I will sit on the hotel balcony and/or the beach and drink beer for 4 days. She agreed.
The dad was a great guy, very mild mannered and friendly. When we get there he tells me and his son he has a charter fishing trip booked for us at 6am one morning. I say I will go as long as they serve beer. To my delight, they did. So we hop on this boat bright and early and I ask the dad and his son if they are ready for a beer (6am). They both said no so I proceed below deck and come back with 3 beers. I said ya'll can each have one or I have to drink 3, it's up to you. They both had a beer. I quickly go down and get 3 more. It seems they are trying to drink em as fast as I can buy them. Before the trip was over, the dad was going after the beer. It may have been the first time he was ever drunk. The pic below is me and the son at noon back at the dock. My fat ass is on the left. Somehow, I weigh 30lbs less at 51 than I did at 19.
Not a great story but a good memory.
The dad died several years ago but the son, daughter and mom still live in my town.

 

I haven't used one in 20 years or more.... a blanket and a pillow, I am good.

Growing up in the desert and not having central air back then, most of the time a top sheet was all I used for cover.
