    Good afternoon,
My father is in the market for a 2019 Tacoma DCLB 4x4. Heading as we speak to Treasure Coast Toyota of Stuart (100+miles from home) to see a couple trucks they had listed online. Any tips or pointers for getting the best deals out of these guys?

@Trident904 Might be able to help.
Personally, I've had better luck at Bev Smith, or go south to Earl Stewart in NPB.
Earl Stewart beat my Costco/USAA/TrueCar price by 2k when I got my truck.

Treasure Coast needs to clear inventory. Be fully prepared to walk out if they won’t budge on pricing. Make them aware that you aren’t going to pay a cent above what you are comfortable paying. If you walk, make it know that you are going up the road to Bev Smith. They’ll be ready to negotiate at that point.

Thank you for your reply trident. We are set to purchase today and also set to walk away from a deal that doesn’t fit his budget too.

Also, don’t tell them a monthly payment amount. Tell them a total out the door price like $36k total after TTL and finance. If you tell them you want to pay $600/month, they are going to negotiate the deal and APR around that number. By figuring out your total OTD number, they lose the back office number fudging ability.

I think that’s about where we want to be on this one. They don’t have a long bed, so we will be negotiating (if my father likes it) on this one

Remember, dont fall for that 4 square method crap. Also in finance, if you go through the dealer, they usually at 1-2% to the apr. So, if they give you say 5%, tell them no.

    ^^^ this ^^^

That’s the main reason to always obtain financing at your bank or credit union BEFORE going to dealership. You’re not going to a dealer to work finances, rather to purchase a vehicle... common mistake youngsters make. And never ever work with monthly payments. After all, you don’t go to a shoe store and buy a pair of Nike’s for a negotiated 48 payments of $2.50 per month... do ya?

I had to think a little, when I saw Tacoma DCLB. I thought, what the heck is that? Then I figured out you meant double cab long bed! I can tell you from my own experience having just bought my new TRD Sport 4-door, to go online and do a search for every conceivable dealer in the area. Most dealers websites show their inventory online, and you can filter it any way you want. Since I was looking for a particular color, it made it even easier for me, because I would simply enter "quicksand" in the search box, and since that color only comes on trucks, it would only bring up those in that color that they had in stock. But, I digress. The point is, that different dealers will offer their own discounts right up front, even before you walk through the door. Be aware of this, because different dealers even within short driving distances, will offer different discounts, or none at all. Example, I am in the San Francisco Bay area of California, and I searched every dealer within 200 miles! Bless the internet at times like this! Anyway, oddly enough, I found that the dealer with the lowest prices was in little town of Santa Rosa in northern California, about an hour drive north of San Francisco. they would and still do, offer $1700 dealer discount, right off the bat. Right now, Toyota of Northern california is also offering $1000 rebate, which makes it a $2700 discount off of the MSRP. that is pretty good! Of course out here, we have to pay 9.75% sales tax, which ended up costing me about $3300, but hey, I am crazy, I live here! But the point is, don't just go to a couple of local dealers. take the time to look online, see what other dealers in the region are doing. Then, if you want to go to your local dealer because you like the salesperson, tell them that you actually know that the exact truck you want is at dealer ABC 75 miles away, and although your local dealer may have the same truck, that ABC dealer will sell it to you for $1000 less. Heck I would drive 75 miles to save $1000, wouldn't you? usually your local dealer will just match that dealers price, and so you end up using that other dealer, but to your benefit. that is what I did, and I was really happy with how things turned out. Good luck to your Dad!

Never hurts to consider slightly used and certified, save some cash.

Thanks for all of the info and reply’s guys. My father settled on a 2019 Sport 4x4 longbed in super white. We were both happy with the price once we negotiated with the sales manager. I was also able to get a set of predator steps for my truck in the deal
