887'S are the same spring rate as all the others, so i imagine not too stiff? Ive only put a hundred miles or so on mine, theyre not stiff at all.

Wish they were taller tho :anonymous:

They all have a 590 lb spring rate with the exception of the 886. The 886 is rated at 660 lbs but they aren’t recommended for 5100’s. It is however an option for your OME Nitro’s.

Yeah i almost went with 886s from the start (i wish i would have followed my gut instead of listening to others lol).

For now ill stick with the 887s until i can afford a bumper, then swap em out.

Hey guys, got a question here for the local crowd. I’ve done a bunch of reading before coming here.

Scenario - yesterday I went in to get some pizza cutters for my taco 255/80/17. Dude at the tire shop kept pushing me towards 285/70/17s. I was hesitant due to known running issues and not wanting to do CMC and other trimming. Was also worried about sema wheels only being 7 wide. I bought all this up before and was ensured it would be to spec.

Love the look of the tires but after checking spec those tires should be on a 7.5 rim or wider and I have a rub at full lock with spring compression as it hits my JBA UCA. I will be doing some wheeling in Moab in early June and am trying to figure out if I start trying to get these tires to fit which may require new wheels and some other mods or if I just go back in to the tire shop and try to get the original size I was going for? I’m not worried about being able to swap them out because I’ve been going to this shop for years and all the concerns I had, I asked about and was guaranteed that there wouldn’t be an issue.

The reason I’m asking here is because if I go with the “make these fu**ers fit” option, I’ll be asking some of you guys for guidance as I’m not a big truck guy.

Noob here, stepped in a steaming pile of it and need a little help. Thanks guys!

Take them back. If you’re set on the SEMA rim Get 275’s, or fn fx knock offs that are wider if you want 285’s. I’m in the same boat. They should have never mounted them. It may even say not to mount on a 7” rim on the tire.

Making the tire fit in the wheel well isn’t that difficult. The 285 on a 7” rim is a big deal. People do it but it’s not a good idea.

I should clarify that I’m not dead set on keeping the Semas. Swapping out wheels wouldn’t be the end of the world for me. My biggest concern would be having the rig set up for some moderate wheeling by the first week in June without having to worry about damaging anything. I am just assuming that even if I switch out wheels (I like fuel Anza or a couple different Method models) I’ll still need to do CMC and pinch weld mod within 5 weeks so I can wheel without possibly causing damage or issues.

I’m leaning towards taking them back due to simplicity but just wanted to get your guys’ thoughts. The rabbit hole that is TW goes deep, especially on these kinds of questions. Thanks again

Well Josh (@Pella) and I drove all the way up to Dodge Ridge looking for some fire roads to do... Everything is still closed off 108 (in case anyone is wondering).

Ended up doing a couple laps in La Grange.

    Fun day, none the less.

And it is now official... El Taco Diablo has fully completed >and now tested< 4wd. 4Hi, 4Low, locking hubs, rear locker all work the way they should... nothing broke... and we she made it home under her own power.

Anything you do over 265/70/17 is likely to rub and would more likely than not, would need a CMC. I run the 265/70/17 now, on the SEMA 7” and have never rubbed off road. I would think you’re likely to air down on your trip, MOAB is not the place to pop a bead. That 285 is too big and airing down can increase the chance of loosing the bead.

Either keep the SEMA set you have now and put 265/70/17 (or 275/70/17 but it might rub and that’s getting close to a CMC) on them or go to a wider wheel and 285’s.
