I am going on a trip Tuesday evening...but depending on your schedule I might have some time to help. I assume just an IFS skid?

 

I did the truck on Saturday morning too.

 

PSA for those still debating coming up to flagstaff for the overland expo. I just realized it is the same weekend as NAU graduation and my ex’s wedding, so there will be probably 20k extra people in town and a bitchy bride to be. Needless to say I’ll likely not leave my house due to the shit show that’s gonna be happening in town.

Yeah just the IFS skid, should be pretty straight forward and quick, well minus the one bolt that the bolt guard got mashed into. Just ordered last night so guessing it will be at least a week + before it even gets here. I'm going camping this weekend so wont be around this weekend.

NAU's graduation will probably be worst for town.
The Expo will make things real bad for Beulah Blvd. & I-17 all the way out to the fairgrounds

 

Question for you guys, although maybe I should post this in the general forum.

I sold the flippac, and have removed a pretty heavy 'kitchen' drawer/cabinet I built, which probably weighed around 125lbs. So my bed is about 400~ pounds lighter than its been for the last 2 years of my ownership, and who knows how long since before I owned the truck.

The bed did not seem to raise up that much, and I know the previous owner installed an AAL, so it does have a bit of lift to it.

Now when I take off from a stop, regardless of how much throttle I give it, I'm getting a pretty significant vibration/clunk from the rear, and when I hammer it, it sounds terrible. I was kinda thinking it is the rear driveshaft not happy, but anyone got any ideas what else it could be? Weak leaf springs?

When I first got the truck, the carrier bearing was completely fucked and all 3 u-joints were toast. I rebuilt the entire driveshaft about a year ago. Wondering if the AAL is going to destroy the shaft bearings/joints again, if I need a carrier bearing drop kit (spacer) or pinion shims?

 

When you get a chance, I would get underneath the truck and verify everything is tight. Maybe removing some of these items had tension on certain portions of the rear that now arnt and loose? If all bolts are snug then I would start trying to wiggle anything I could find to help identify whats going on. I have had two friends find loose leaf springs bolts that made similar racket.

 

Good call on torquing the bolts, Ill try that tonight.

 

The bobcats have not been around in a while actually, just the coyotes. but we do have a 5-6 foot gopher snake that hangs out under the staircase to the upstairs unit.
