    Hello Everyone,

I wanted to share my experience with My 2018 Tacoma SR5 XP. I got the pickup October of 2018 and have had problems with rear shake. Truck was new from the dealer. Shaking happens most of the time but some days the truck drives fine. Most people, including the dealer, told me it’s because of the type of tires I have and that I’m driving a truck not a car. My XP model came with Nitto Grappler G2 tires and 17" Ultra Maverick Rims. Here is what I have done:

    - Had a consistent thumping when driving. Dealer found flat spots on all the tires from the car being parked on the dealer lot for months. They replaced all tires for free and balanced. This resolved the thumping but the truck still shakes.

    - Had tires balanced at Costco to see if it would help, thought maybe dealer had trouble balancing the tires. Truck drove a little better but shaking was still there.

    - Had truck aligned to see if it will help with the shaking at an alignment place, awesome people in Miami “Alignment Factory”. He told me if the car still shakes he thinks it’s something called brake shake.

Decided to start taking my truck to a different Toyota Dealer in Miami

    - Took car into dealer for Master Cylinder recall. I expressed my concerns on the shaking and told them about the brake shake concern. The the Master Cylinder recall and a TSB 0062-18 performed. Truck drives a little different but still shaking.

    - I kind of gave up on the shaking at this point. Drove the car for 6 months until I had to brake hard and noticed my brake peddle dropped and shook. Not a normal ABS feel but the brake pedal just dropped. This happened twice so I took it back to the dealer so they can revise the work done on the Master Cylinder. I expressed my concerns about the shaking while I was there again.

    - Dealer took 2 days but called me up saying that they found a TSB that my truck may fall under. The TSB is TSB-0023-19. Apparently my truck had a “Not to Spec” Axle Flange on the RR Axel. They replaced all the parts as per the TSB for the RR Axel. They said my LR Axel was fine.

Other stuff they did to the truck:
Bled the brakes to make sure there is no air in the lines.
Did a Road Force Balancing on the Rear tires. Said the tires balancing was close to perfect but they performed the balancing anyways.

I have been driving my truck for the last 3 days and finally it’s driving the way it should. The truck drives stiff but does not have any excessive shaking so far. I know I have off road tires and it’s a pickup not a luxury car but it should not shake excessively. Apparently this is a problem for some 3rd Gen Tacomas. Brakes also feel much better after this last service.

I hope this helps whoever is going through what I went through.
