that one pic of the tow rig stuck looks like the one in the bed says "badland". Hard to believe someone operating a tow business useed the cheapest winch on the market.

That either means people severely under estimate the winches, or he buys a new one after every recovery, lol. At the rate you probably paid, he could probably afford to.

Lmao it sure was. A badlands 12000, and it didn’t run good at all. I gave him a smittybuilt for his troubles. He burned out the badlands winch, beat his truck up pretty good and knocked his front winch off going through a hole. Least I could do. Oh and his wife was flying around the passenger seat as he mashed it through the mud. Hell of a guy. Not many drivers would do all that

those recoveries are usually arm/leg/kidney prices. ain't cheap. Not only is it a big deal to get a tow truck out there, they know they got you and can charge pretty much whatever they want.

It's like what AAA charges to slim jim your car. I locked my keys in once and they charged me like $80 to slim jim it. That's about what my cheapest window to replace would have been if I smashed a window. :frusty:

More important is that everyone is out and safe. It's only money... lol

Well it didn’t cost me anything but the winch. He was stoked on it.
