    Anyone ordered from @RockAuto lately? They have 2 kits with a $10 difference in price. Trying to figure out the difference as they have identical parts.

    preventative or needed maintenance on the pulleys?

    I ask because on my 2015 with 88k i just replaced my squealing belt. I only inspected one pulley and it seemed fine, got sidetracked and forgot to check the others

    I changed mine out at 210k miles. I was driving cross country and just did the Red Clay Rally..got a little noisy so I did it. With 88k miles, not sure you need to just yet...what kind off roading do you do?

    I've got 150,000 on my truck and just changed the pulleys with the help of this multiple page posting. One thing that was unique on mine or at least haven't read too often is that I had a groaning noise for a little while and then had a knocking noise1 I thought it may be the alternator especially after putting a stethoscope on it. Took off the alternator and it was fine. Replaced all the pulleys but the one next to the alternator was seized! No more noises. I did all the pulleys for good measure.

    Just to confirm, are all of the idler pulley bolts reverse threaded, or just the pulley on the tensioner?

    maybe you can take it back for an exchange the OEM tensioner pulley is 16603-75010 that fits the 2.7l tensioner, im not sure if it would be the same as the v6 model pulley might be worth a try, maybe bring the old tensioner and match it up with it.

    IMHO, you should spend the $20 to get a bando brand replacement belt. Carry it with you, along with a 14mm ratchet. If you have belt issues on your trip, you can replace it.

    I would not mess it before hand. I'd fear that there might be issues with a new belt.

    Not all bad bearings will squeak. When you remove the belt, grab each bearing and move side to side, and inward/outward; there should be no play. Also, spin with a little force; you should feel a smooth rotation; any binding or rough feel indicates a worn out bearing.

    Not Enough and it continues...
    Just ordered from Ebay. I figured it was about time since I'm over 200k. Noticed a little noise starting to show up.

    Hi guys!

    I have a 2004 Tacoma I4 2.4L. Theres a pesky chirping sound coming from under the hood around the belt/pulley area. It seems to chirp the most when I'm idling, in drive moving at slow speeds with my foot off the pedal and in reverse. I've had all 3 belts replaced and an idler pulley replaced, and it seems like the chirping was reduced, but I still hear it!!

    What do you think this can be? I've brought it to the shop twice telling them to fix it and I'm starting to get pissed. Please help!!!

    Next up to check are the bearings in the water pump, power steering, and alternator. My money is on the water pump. The chirping is always there; you will tend not to hear it a high speeds because the road and air noise drowns it out.
