It doesn’t bog down as much. I had the big old style Dewalt with wheels. That was pretty good except it would pop the breaker if I went to fast even with a fresh blade. The smaller model I never had much luck with it ripping sheets. The Skilsaw one works well for what I use it for.
I’m sure the Dewalt one is good for the garage. Most of my other stuff is Dewalt .

Interesting , I've only ever used DeWalt 744's and 744X's for the last 15 or so years , 8 hours a day on the jobsite .

The new Skilsaw tablesaw is worm drive so that probably helps a lot with power transfer

Never had an issue with my dewalt portable table saw. Not sure which model (if there is more than one) we bought it about 10 years ago I think. Still great. We definitely dont use it as much as @OZ-T does though

Also, never popped a breaker either.

Yes I worked my old 744 for probably 8 years everyday. It was great until someone yoinked it out of the trailer. I really like the Skilsaw. You should give it a whirl if you have the chance.

We used and abused the DeWalt 744 for years at work and it ran great. One of our guys wasn't paying attention one day and kicked lock down lever clean off so we decided to get a new one and went with this Hitachi. Managed to grab it on sale too so it wasn't nearly that expensive. This thing is great and has some nice features like the wheels and built in stand. Probably not necessary for DIY stuff but still nice to have.

This is very important. I had a Rigid that had a weak fence clamp that would move and make bad cuts. It only locked on one side so the other side would move. I bought a DeWalt specifically for the rack and pinion fence. If you can get one with a folding table and wheels. It will make it much easier to move around. They arn't that heavy but not light either.

I have a SawStop cabinet saw in my shop. It's a hell of a piece of machinery. Probably a bit more saw and $$ than what you're looking for, but if you ever plan on doing fine work, I highly recommend it. I know a lot of people would say that they can get just as good a saw for a lot less, but personally, I'd rather have spent the money than lose a finger that one time when the blade binds and the wood jumps, or another stupid, minor thing causes skin to meet blade.
I'm currently putting it to good use building a bed/nightstands/chest out of a stack of butternut.
Oh, and SawStop does make portable contractor saws.

I’m sure anything you get will work fine if it’s from Home Depot or Lowe’s. Just don’t get the cheapest one you can find if you plan on having it for awhile. You might even find a good one on CL. Lots of DIYers use once and sell. Thanks HGTV.

..maybe if you fabricate a fix from a piece of steel angle iron that runs the length of that warped stile, paint it to match your barn door track h/w, ..fasten to the stile using black screws (get the same as you used from your barn door h/w kit would be ideal), ..spaced say every 6" or so or whatever you think is needed AND looks good to you..

..then do the same on the stile on the other door, so that when the doors are closed, ..the two pieces of angle iron meet, ..the symmetry and contact will make it appear intentional like a piece of accent trim, ..and also would function as a handle to help close the doors from that side.. just don't get a finger caught in between them! ;)

I dyed it. I can remember whether water or alcohol based dye because I used both. Then wiped on several coats of a hand rubbed clear urethane .
