I usually do plasma/platelets so I'm eligible every two weeks.

i use to be in charge of it at my high school and reached my pints goal. ::nerd::

that means you have good veins and you pump fast! :D

traveling is a big issue with donating blood. people who have recent tattoos and are exposed to certain drugs can't donate also. and if your under 110 pounds! can you say anorexic? or they just might be smaller in physique.

I "gave" blood once...didn't even fill up a quarter of the bag!

For some reason, I don't bleed, even after several minutes of the lady poking and prodding my arm (needles don't bother me, and I'm type O, so I should have been a great candidate). The guy had to poke 3 holes into my finger, because the first 2 didn't give enough blood.

Who knows, maybe my body is greedy. Or awesome. At least I don't have to worry about dying of blood loss ^_^.

Got a tattoo recently, so don't think I can donate... Maybe a couple personal things to I am curious about might prevent me from donating

I had a friend that lived in a couple years in England growing up. She is on the black list from donating blood for life because of living over there (mad cow). Funny thing is she is a Nurse.

I've donated blood twice and have passed out twice. My body is weird. I don't get queasy (?) when I see blood it is just very weird. A little loss of blood for me and I black out.

I get 2 days off a year to give blood so thats one reason I give. I think if people got a day off to give blood more people would give blood.

I've donated before, but I choose not to, I get lite headed and pass out... then wake up on the floor... its pretty embarassing! B Rh+ 9.4% of the population has this.

9" 5% front window strip, tailgate light bar, pulled off TRD stickers, removed mud flaps, blacked out tail lights very soon. There's a lot more coming, this is just the beginning.
I work in a hospital so I donate everytime the blood drive comes around. I've been donating for a few years now, and it's kinda cool to know I'm helping somebody out. I unfortunately don't weigh enough to do the double red cell donation..though I would if I could.

x2, I've donated for many years, but yesterday was the first time for double rbc's. I felt great and it cuts the donations down to 3 times a year, win/win.

After years of donating blood, they got me started on platelets. It's a 2 hour process where they pull the blood out of one arm, filter it, then pump it back with saline through the other arm. I can do this every 2 weeks. I try to do it as often as possible, but it has been a little while since my last visit.
