What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Yeah a little bit. I was still able to attach the front and then use the floor jack to push that right rear corner up enough to attach the other mounting points tho.

 

Mine is chronologically correct tho...

3rd gen pickup, 1st gen taco, 2nd gen taco.

I just need to find a 96 1st gen so I get both front end styles. Ill pretend the 97-00 front end never existed lol.

 

Same here, I can still mount it no problem...but when you look under the truck you can see the back corner/side of the skid is considerably higher up than the other side lol. It's not a huge deal I mostly just wanted to see how hard it would be to try and straighten it out, or if I should just consider a new skid soon.

 

It may be fixable but I didn't want to mess around with it any longer.

You may want to put a straight edge on the long mount that is attached to the rack. Mine was bent up a little.

 

Yes of course they have, but a lot of the major replacement items (airboxes aren't one) are still there, even entire engine long blocks and all manner of sensors are available.

What are you guys running gauge pod wise? I'd really like to use the Carvenspeed mount that bolts to the steering column but it won't fit on 1995-2000 apparently.

 

My boost gauge attaches to the a-pillar. I just have the AFR gauge mounted to the dash right next to it

 

I've seen your boost gauge, I was thinking of two of those. I'd use the pre-made trim with cutouts but I like my grab handle and RAM mount too much.

The next thing I get will be a sports car or another 2wd Tacoma. Thinking about putting a turbo on mine but it has 417k miles probably blow the motor.

 

I'll grab one later after work, it isn't pretty yet...I have it stuck to the dash using museum mounting tape lol. I haven't committed to drilling my dash to permanently mount it there yet. The mounting tape has held it great though for the last 6 months.

yeah but doing it in the corner where the windshield meets the dash seems damn near impossible without taking the dash apart...just haven't found the motivation to go that far yet

 

I had to angle my drill to drill those inclinometer bolt and wire holes.

That’s why I could never get the Civic’s title in my name. It wouldn’t pass smog from sitting for so long. I don’t want to drive it illegally long enough for the monitors to be ready.
