Clunk when backing up and turning from front, maybe middle of truck

I'm rotating my tires in a few hours and wonder if there is anything I should be looking for to see what this is. It's morphed from sounding like the brake pads... floating and hitting, for lack of a better word, to now a worrisome noise I can feel in the cab that sounds somewhat like rubbing. Driving feels fine, no noises. Just when backing after brakes are released (and sometimes going forward after backing). Truck has a 3" suspension lift, UCAs, 45K miles, and armor since 10K, and E rated 31" tires if that could have caused anything. thanks for your input.

 

Probably the brake pads are low., caliper sticking

 

Brake pads are new, caliper sticking is a new one to me. I'll look it up and see how to fix if I encounter it, thanks.

Edit: I should add I went with a pad that bit a little more to counter the weight, and it does give off way more dust than stock.

 

Could it possibly be this?-

When I take off and drive forward, when I initially hit the brakes I get a CLUNK from what I believe to be the front brakes. It will not make this sound again until I get somewhere where I have to reverse/ back-up and it will make the CLUNK sound again when applying the brakes. HOWEVER, as with the forward clunk, I can continue to back-up and apply the brakes and it will NOT make the clunking sound again until... I take off forward again and apply the brakes. But only on the initial applying of the brakes.

I found an old post from @05Moose from back in January 2011, in which he describes this exact same issue. Really good description. But that was on a Gen 2 Taco, and you would THINK that we wouldn’t be having this issue on newer Gen 3s. FYI, mine is a 2016 TSS DCSB 2WD with 27K miles...

 

Yes, that's correct and this only started when I replaced the pads. However, there's new noises that I'm not sure are caused by the lift. The guys that signed it knew Tacomas, so I'm not sure that has anything to do with it. Only thing I found (no stuck calipers) was my front axles did wiggle in and out about 1/8", maybe even less. I was thinking maybe the CV could be binding or something?
