Just got my iPhone 8 today. Used my Qi charger driving home from the Apple Store. Charged from 58% to 80% in about 45 minutes. Apple Tech said that the latest IOS update for the phones addressed previous Qi charging issues. Phone did not get hot, worked the way the Qi charger pad is suppose to in my truck. So if you have not downloaded the latest IOS download.....go do it, than try your phone Qi charger in your truck again. Good luck! Merry Christmas to all....

Yeah that fixes it because they added fast wireless charging. The update still doesn’t help if your Qi pad isn’t even allowing your device to charge. An 8+ worked fine on my 17 Tacoma’s charging pad. But my iPhone X causes it to throw the overheating lights every time no matter where I position it. So frustrating.

That’s wonderful. No one is saying charge packs don’t work. The issue is with the new generation iPhones not wanting to work the Tacoma’s charging pad.

It seems to be mostly centered around the new iPhones so I don’t know what they did to them. I know it can’t be the truck because my Samsung worked fine.

I have the X with a Mous case. Charges on the Qi . Have to put it close to the front drivers side for it to work

Switch your phone out! That is the way to fix it. Many who were having the same challenges resolved the issues with a new phone. My phone would make both lights blink in any Tacoma I tried to charge it in. Swapped out phones and it's working perfectly.

No issues with my X. Sounds like you have a faulty pad.

Haven't heard of a faulty pad yet, but LOTS of reports of faulty iPhones. If your iPhone 8, 8 Plus, or X causes both lights to flash, it will likely do it in ALL Tacomas. Swap the phone out, and you're good to go!

Well an 8+ works fine on it. Just not the X so based on that I’m going to go with the phone isn’t playing nicely.

Wasn’t bad for me, but I first reported the problem within hours of purchase. I would advise starting correspondence via chat. Point them to all of the threads here and elsewhere. I believe Apple must know that there’s a problem with some of their phones being incompatible with Toyota Qi charging. I showed the chat agent the YouTube video I made and was quickly escalated.

My X has always worked even with a Defender case but it’s so slow it’s pretty much useless. The pad works great for holding my sunglasses though.
