Vibration is probably due to bad rotors. I have a 2016 and haven’t had a single issue. Other than I want to re-gear but no leaks or nothing that others are having. I’m assuming with robots piecing together everything there will always be room for error. Nothing quite like hand fitting anything together

Actually the Tacoma is made in Texas... and it seems like that's part of the problem sadly. One of my coworkers used to work at a Toyota dealer, said once they started making them in the US, they started seeing a lot of manufacturer error- like cross-threaded bolts

Actually reliability goes up considerably with robots vs handmade, because it's consistent. My guess with the differential problems is that the tooling is worn out, since they whine from day one, get replaced and have the Same. Damn. Whine. Rear drums seem to be a common vibration issue on these as well, possibly for similar reasons.

Dripped mine off today at the dealership for the rumble strip. The service guy even admitted it was pretty bad when he drove with me.

They have me a loaner Tacoma Guess what? Does the same crap.

Can't believe Toyota hasn't fixed this by now.

My drums turned and still have shudder, so I'm guessing its not brakes. Did mechanic test drive after repair?? Also, my shift lever just started to turn like from right to left. Anyone else's doing this?

So I finally got my Tacoma back from the dealer today, after they had it for 12 days. After the TSB was done , along with other parts replaced, and the drums turned I can say as of now I no longer feel any vibration when braking. I’ve only driven it around 15miles so far.

I get the vibration as well- always below 40mph and the pulse of the vibration is the same duration as far as time goes. The kicker is- it does it while stopped at a light as well. Its almost like an ABS activation, very subtle. So: below 40mph, same duration each occurrence and does it at a complete stop? Weird.

My 2-week old Tacoma’s does the same. It’s got 600 miles and no mechanical modifications.

I really believe it is the way ABS actually works.
My grandfather had a Chrysler with early ABS. When you touched the freaking brake pedal the whole vehicle shook! I don’t know exactly how it works, but his ABS pulsed while gradually it applied it’s progressively greater force no matter how hard you stepped on the pedal.
Kind of like our little construction workers banging on everything while in crawl control..

    Just my theory/opinion..

That’d make sense when slowing down...but accelerating?

My theory is that it has to do with the degree of flex Toyota builds into the Tacoma frames: it allows driveline vibration to reverberate.

Then again, I know next to nothing when it comes to engineering.

But what about at a complete stop? Just weird.
