After looking at gobs of tire pictures and different sizes, and stopping at parking lot Tacoma’s to check tire size, I came to the conclusion that I definatley wanted 285’s. Most run 285/75/16’s that cause sometimes major rubbing. I wanted to minimize that. Also, I wanted wider more aggressive tires and not necessarily taller.

So, I decided to give the 285/70/16 Nitto Trail Grapplers a try. I just mounted them today so I’m not prepared for a full review. Driving on the street there is no rubbing. I did rub the front stock mud flap doing some curb hopping while turning. Pretty slight - I will probably see is I can clearance the mud flap instead of removing. Not sure about full stuff. Also, I’m on a 2/1” lift.

One drawback is that the tires are really heavy. I like the looks.

Hell yeah, looks goot! I wondered the same thing about going with a 70% aspect ratio 285....I'm also running a 2/1 lift...However, I wussed out and went 265/75. I on and off regret not going 285. Maybe next time. Thanks for posting up... good info!

Looks good. I have 285/75/16’s with 1 1/2” spacers and had to cut some of the fender well plastic. Nothing that can be seen looking from the side.

Thanks! I drove around another hour or so. Rubbed the stock front mud flap a couple of times. It’s seems to be hitting at that “blocked” out part. I’m going to cut that out and see if I can keep running the stock flaps. I running 1.25 wheel spacers.

285/70/17 with Nitto Graplers, so far no rubbing. 2" in the front and 1.5 at the back. (soon will be 2" at the back as well) still with a 1.5 the back is very level to the front, I want the back slightly higher than the front.

Thanks! Since I had an alignment done, I have not rubbed at all, not once. I haven't wheeled it though, and don't plan too.
