Gets off work at 6pm. Gets home. Gets call. “You’re on night shift tomorrow and possibly a few days. Be at work at 6pm” (12 hour shifts)

Welllll this makes my diet and gym tricky

After two weeks off, I did front squats, DB stiff legs, leg press, and leg curl with some standing calf work today. Going backpacking for the weekend starting this afternoon...

...if I keep hiking DOMS won't set in, right?

    Right?

A "challenge board" in our gym is something I've been talking about for a month or so. Something to call out people and motivate them...also to bring attention to their progress since it can easily get lost in the sea of names and numbers on the PR wall. This is an experiment and only caveat is people have to agree to be put on it.

In less than 24 hours...this got out of hand very quickly! John and Justin rib each other pretty good and train with different trainers so with their totals so close, they were the natural selection. Matt is an "open gym" member who threw his name on the board to mix it up.

It's going to be an interesting month.

    Yeah...

...but it actually worked. Started pounding miles Saturday morning through to the afternoon with no issues. A slight little twitch or pang in the hams or quads every so often, but it was good. Didn't properly tighten up until I got up this morning. But even now, it's just stiffness not soreness.

-She won her pure novice class (class who has never competed before).
    -Novice Class
    -Novice Overall
    -Open Class
    -Open Overall

Beyond EXCITED!! So proud of her!

All of this done too by never manipulating water or sodium. Poor guys and girls out there she said so many people didn't have water for 24 hours or worse. Unbelievable the amount of misinformation out there... I felt so bad for them. She was eating before stage too, hardly anyone had food. They all stared at her as she ate her smoked beef sticks LOL

Hit 420x6 squat on my last set of 5/3/1 last night. Felt really good. I decided to run through 6 weeks of training before a Deload as opposed to the 3 weeks Wendler suggests. Not enough volume/intensity yet for me to need it but I think the two cycles is a sweet spot. Timing works out well since I have a shit ton of ot at work and won’t be able to hit the gym as much next week.

I just got back from a week vacay, lots of food, beer, and booze.

Had one of the best days in the gym yesterday. Felt great and was pushing about 20% more weight than normal on most of the lifts.

Today... as each hour progresses I’m getting stiffer and sorer XD. Todays workout is 1000m repeats so no lifting but I get the feeling its still not going to be fun.

You always pay for those great days in the gym.

    THERE ARE NO REST DAYS!

Today will be an “active rest day” of basically an easy hour on the eliptical.
I have a trail 5k June 1 I’m training for so my schedule is a 7 day per week plan now. Yoga one of the days... not sure it counts as a recovery day but we’ll pretend.
    Goals are sub 23:00.

Balancing lifting and cardio over the next 3.5 weeks is going to be tough.

I plan on ice baths, hot tubs, KT Tape, and a serious focus on nutrition. :)

    You got this man.

Kris Gethin is a “man of iron” and managed to build mass while losing weight doing cardio twice a day.

It’ll be tough but you ain’t no punk so you’ll kill it.

    Like, so many.
I need some suggestions. I'm a smaller guy who has always worked to to add muscle, but after finally getting my nutrition dialed in, I've done it. Now I'm getting ready to do my first ever cut and I'm not really sure how to go about it. Is it just a matter of lowering calories? Do I mix in more cardio? HIIT? It doesn't need to be a big, btw. Appreciate the help!
