I put them on and they work great for the intent of the product. I didn't like the star cut-outs in the step portion either, so I found some rubber diamond plate with adhesive backing at Harbor Freight. The width was perfect, just had to trim the length. 2 bucks each.

the more i look at my truck with them on, the more i like them. I am waiting to post my Amazon review until i drive some more but i think it's going to be 100% positive. in my case, i think it adds something very nice to the truck without ruining the offroadability.

so i drove the truck tonight after work and washed and waxxed her.

the steps rock!!! i can easily and safely stand on them while i wash/wax the roof. easy as pie to get up there. the only test remaining is when i go up to the mountain to see if they drag anywhere- i really doubt they will if my GF's honda crv makes it up there fine.

something else i noticed while in the garage. my xterra and the taco share very similar side door lines. right below each side window there is a bend of about 1 inch on both vehicles. it's sort of weird that they are so similar. and similar both on the front and rear doors... will post a pic shortly showing what i mean.

drove the truck to the coast and back this weekend. steps did great and look great. i noticed all the tacos more than i ever have- when you own a certain car you do notice your type of car more- and alot have the stock side steps which hang low. i think the tygers i have don't hang nearly as low and look far better. with the color of my truck and the black steps, sort of looks desert storm army-ish. that's just my opinion of course.

I'm gonna order me some, I think they look good and should be able to handle any mall crawling I do, mainly to keep the door dings away.

and they should be fine for mild off-road. rock crawling, maybe not but i will NEVER do that. I will report back once i go up to the mountain. there are some good hills there, one steep 32% grade on gravel, so i will see then.

FYI... just saw a used (like new) set of these on the 3rd or 2nd gen market place forum. Check them out they may be a lot better deal. Same exact set.

i love mine so far. and these sit far higher than the oem predator steps as far as i can tell. i can just see those things snagging a rock. ours do sit about 1 inch lower than the frame rail but if you are that close to hitting, you probably need sliders.

I agree with this 100%. I wasn't too in love with them when I pulled them out of the box, but the more I see them the happier with them that I get. and they're super sturdy! 9/10 would recommend
