AVS Auto-Vent Shade

Ok...in channel or outside install...Discuss benefits and drawbacks...

 

In channel IMO is the way to go. Looks better and no downside in my experience.

 

In-channel: Looks better than sticking them to the outside of the door. Some d*ck can't come and rip them off just to be an ass with the window closed fully. No chance of a leak where water could get behind the seal and still drip inside door when windows are down?

Only going off experience from the ones that came with my truck, they're in-channel, love em. Although the window hits them when they close so you just hear a little thud when fully closing the window. And idk what it's like to replace them if you had to, aren't they glued to the foam/rubber frame within the window frame?

 

I was thinking along the same lines, but I also read somewhere that the In-Channel can scratch window tint...

I’ve had AVS and WeatherTech both in channel and I’d never own another set of AVS. The AVS are cheaper and also cheaper made... they fade pretty rapidly in the sun. I’ve had my WT for a year and they still look really good and the tint doesn’t show the fading and wear the AVS’s did.

 

But window tint goes on the inside of the glass, while the outside of the glass is the part that would hit the in-channel visor? No problem that I can see.

Easy to install, looks better, more secure, can't be ripped off easily.

 

In channel...for all reasons previously stated.

 

I put AVS in-channel vent visors on my truck and took them off a week later. I didn't like the looks of them.

 

Interesting. I'm back and forth on them. In Virginia, it would be nice to crack the windows without worrying about the freak rain storm. I have never had them, but thought I would give them a try.

 

I have the AVS in channel, no leaks or anything in the past 4 months.

I've had my in channels for almost 3 years now and haven't had any problems. They do a great job and are more flush than outside ones I see on a lot of larger Ford trucks. Haven't had a problem yet. My truck has never been garaged and sits outside in the California sun, not one sign of sun fade or color change in the three years. Just make sure you properly clean inside the channel before attaching. Haven't had problems with the adhesive as well. Hope this help.

I just put the normal in-channel AVS shades on my truck. The front pass. side windows bangs it every time and doesn't like to go up unless I help it. I'm hoping that will go away with time.

I just trashed my brand new WeatherTechs before putting on the AVS. I installed the front Driver side 3 times. Each time the window would bang it and not go up. Refitted a 4th time and the front edge was cracked by the window and fell into my door.

Honestly, I don't like either one of them. I just hate running AC.

Window is tinted on the inside of the glass not the outside.

 

I like the flush look of the AVS in - channel vents. Not sure how old these are since they were on when I bought the truck but haven't faded too badly or anything.
