My 2016 TRD Sport Access Cab is going to be 36mo. old at the end of May, and has 18300 Mi. on it. and has performed perfectly according to Toyota. but this Auto trans has had all the updates available, and is much better, but still has bad manners compared to my other Toyotas. I don't trust it. It is time to either buy an Extended Warranty to 100000 Mi. or ditch this thing.
I am looking for recommendations for extended warranty, and customer feedback on service.

Are you referring to the extended warranty offered by Toyota for used vehicles?
If it covers you up to 7 years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) from the original date of purchase, it would only give you 2 more years of coverage beyond the original warranty.

As the original warranty for the powertrain is 5 years or 60,000 miles, if you continue at your current rate of mileage accrual of just over 6,100 miles per year, you’ll be over 30,000 miles at 5 years and around 43,000 miles at 7 years when the warranty ends.

An extended warranty purchase would probably not be worth the cost for a vehicle driven so few miles.

I’ve read of a few, but it’s rare to have powertrain failures at under 50,000 miles.AB385920-AC49-4E7D-AA0B-45663A370B27.jpg

Extended warranties rarely make sense, even less sense on a toyota, and no sense with your mileage. If you don't like the transmission sell it, there's nothing wrong with it so it won't be fixed.

Have you tried it in “S” mode versus “D”? I made the switch to shifting to S5 always with the occasional S6 for long highway stints. It seems to calm down the excessive shifting, and mpg stayed roughly the same.

we also own a 2018 4runner, the auto trans has perfect manners, so I know what toyota is capable of.
    Thanks for the encouragement.
