    AJ,

A scenario similar to Fiesta Island ( already scheduled for 22JUN ) because the trucks can backup right onto the beach and you can set up right off the tailgate. The water is right there for the kids, the adults can bring the big boy water toys, go play in the dirt ( if permitted ), and dogs are very welcome. The only draw back is the restrooms are the blue port-a-potties. Ski beach is a decent alternative as long as folks are willing to drag their gear a little ways, but restrooms are right there. Silver Strand State Beach is another option if you want to face the ocean, but although I see lots of tread marks on the sand there, I don't know if it's legally allowed. You'll need to call them and see if we can just "park" on the beach somewhere. Maybe one of the local lakes would be a good option instead. Our family always gets together at Poway Lake every year and enjoy volleyball and generally harassing each other. Restrooms are close by. The biggest key is to plan it well in advance so that folks can plan for it.
