hey guys, anyone ever mount an awning on an access cab? I’m trying to figure out the best way (or if it’s possible) to mount shade to my truck while still keeping the bed free.

I ride motocross so I always have bikes in the bed of the truck. Is there an awning short enough that can mount to a prinsu rack on the access cab? Or do you have any other ideas for shade cover while still having an open bed for bikes?

I just ordered the ARB 1250 series which is 4' wide. I'll be mounting mine to the cab as well. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have a 2500 on my 4R and even it feels small when you’re under it.

My husband is ordering the 2500 We plan to park our vehicles side by side for 12ft of coverage. But when I'm on solo trips the 4ft will feel insignificant but better than nothing!

I had the 4'er on my teardrop. Unless it's high noon, you are never really sitting under it. I spent more time sitting outside of the awning in the 1' of shade than I ever spent under it. Unless you need to get out of rain, it's really not worth the cost or the time to set it up. You can see in the picture, sunny day, no shade under the awning11.jpg

So, a dude in another thread posted this...I think this might be the way to go. Just do a larger one and let it overhang. It’s worth it in my little brain to get it out of the bed itself and to be able to leave my bike/gear in the shade while we’re at the track

WOW! I see what you mean!

I am in the PNW though and there is always the possiblity of a quick rain or fog.

Just mounted mine yesterday and love it. Mine is the 4ft and I like it a lot, but the 6ft would have fit just fine.
