    Bumping this up again. I'm interesting in getting something like this, until an aftermarket bumper shows up that is fully BSM compatible (C4Fab is hit/miss, it seems like). Happy to buy one off of someone as well.

    I thought something like this was a good idea. A skid plate for my hitch. To help it slide when I bottom out on the hitch 4 wheeling. So I used a pic of 5/16" steel I had laying around, bent it and welded it to my hitch.
    I'm not losing any ground clearance with this design and I still can use my tow hitch
    Total price $0.00 I little time on a rainy day.

    Seems like an unnecessary product. Before I went to a high clearance rear bumper, I had a hitch shackle receiver and didn't leave a shackle in. It's rounded, and slid over everything with ease. I beat the shit on that thing and only ever scratched it up. And it's a proper rear recovery point, which you should have while off road anyways.

    Putting a strap in an open receiver works in a pinch, but only for a dead straight pull. Once that strap gets a little sideways, it can chafe on the side of the receiver. That’s why having a rear shackle is the correct way.

    And for the record my chain loops never got damaged. I stand by my view of hitch skid plates.
