I am interested in these but some say they are plug in play for trd models and some say you have to cut the oem drl plug and solder it on the depos? That is what the website says but then people say if you select that you have a trd model they are now plug and play?

Looks like you have the TRD OffRoad model so just select the appropriate selections for your truck & then choose the 2nd option to have the connector pre wired like in this picture

Thanks for the post! I want to blackout my headlights but don’t want to go the complete aftermarket look of the TacomaBeast style. Or the Morimotos which are $1,000+. I was tempted to try the retrofit mod of taking my current ones apart and painting myself but heard that’s pretty tough. I think I’ll go this route once I’m ready to buy.

Side note, these only say for 16-18 right now so they don’t show up if you put 2019 as the model year on the USR website.

Yea I don't care for all the other lights out there even the new 2020 headlights are just TOO much. The Morimoto lights are nice but a little too flashy & expensive. I've done BLHM before (not on Tacomas) & wasn't that bad. Once you start em you gotta finish em tho!!!

Exactly, I like the stock style I just don’t want all the chrome. As for blacking out my current ones I was half tempted to buy a replacement set from CARID so that if I messed them up I wouldn’t be without headlights

I'm not sure how cheap they are on CARID but I've seen them as low as $250 on here in BST section

I’ll check the BST then if I go that route. $300 for the pair off CARID.

I know right?! But if I can get a set professionally done through this USR website for $150 more I think I’ll just bite the bullet and avoid the risk

Seeing them mounted on dark color is making me lean closer to pulling the trigger on these. Never was a fan on the blacked out look but these are killer.

Has anyone had issues with the DRL blowing a fuse? I have the full plug and play version and fuse keeps blowing on DRL. In the parking or headlight mode they work fine, but if in the "Auto" mode and as soon as I remove parking break the fuse pops. Its almost as is the brighter stage of the DRL working over loads the circuit. I think the other positions on the stork work off different fuses. Any assistance would be appreciated before shipping these guys back. Would be disappointing.

I isolated my issue to a short in the DRL in the headlights. Just buyer beware with these headlights. They are the plug and play version. USR has been difficult to deal with so far and their customer service keeps giving you an operator and all they do it taking messages and then only reply by email. So far all they want me to do is run though hurdles where trying to prove they are an issue. I’ve blown though 5 fuses trying to isolate the issue. I told them I’m done and have isolated it and their is a short in the DRLs themselves.

Appears to be an unfortunate pattern of poor customer service.

That sucks! Just started to install tails on the 4Runner and one has a broke trim piece. Installed head lights on the tacoma last week.

I'd keep on them. Ask who you need to talk to get it resolved. I haven't had any issues with mine but in the mean time I would look at the splices if you haven't already.

Sounds like they are connecting a factory style DRL plug now for TRD models & I'm not sure if its wired straight from the DRL board or they are splicing into them?

Don’t give up yet just keep an eye out on them as you get closer to warranty period.

They look great, maybe it was just me that I got a bad set. I was ok with it but they just have terrible customer service. You will probably be fine just keep and eye on them during the warranty period.
