My TNF hybrid front bumper came in today.
    Now for painting..
Has anyone rattle canned their aftermarket bumpers and had success with it holding up the salt during winter?
I do not want to spray bedliner it as I want a smooth, satin black finish. Is it worth spending $80-$100 on automotive self-etching primer, satin black, and auto clear coat? Or spend another $200 and have it powdercoated?

I use bed liner on mine, but cover with matte black enamel. 3-4 coats of automotove self etching primer, 3-4 coats of rustoleum cattle can bed liner, and 2 coats of matte black high performance enamel. Not very textured and can take a beating and is easy to blend in a touch up

    To many, but never done
I did mine with a rattle can, I used Rust-Oleum pro primer.
Worked great, painted front last summer and continues to hold up

Holy crap didnt even notice the person peaking through the window in that 1st picture haha

I did my sliders with 2 coats self etching primer and 2 coats flat black High Performance Enamel "pro". Both Rust-Oleum rattle cans. The bottom that gets blasted with shit from the road wore off after just a month or two. The top has held up ok except some scratches and where I step getting into the truck. If you want a good finish and are ocd about it, spending the extra money for the good stuff would definitely be worth it I think. Or powdercoat

I just put together my Amazon shopping cart of "professional" spray-on products and it came to over $100. I got a quote for the best rated local powdercoat shop and they quoted $175. That was an easy decision.
Also, I thought I was on the general discussion thread. ill stop now...

I like GMRS mostly because theres no test  But still has good audio quality, range etc. Really the biggest downside being its not a great form of 'emergency' comms - just because its not very popular and theres not a ton of people listening.

While @m603holden was still able to pickup a few stations on his HAM rig when we were way up in NW Maine this past winter

Yeah I'd love it to go open license under 5W just so it could replace CB but even though it's only $7 a year, people don't want to pay despite all the benefits. I just wish more groups would switch.

Technically FRS is open - no license required. Just got to make sure the radio is compatible

Lol that gmrs is 50w. +10x the power output of cb, much small antenna, and is more compatible with handhelds. It's a very sweet setup

The reason gmrs hasn't been popular is due to lack of product and recent changes. They now allow up to 50 watts on designated repeater channels. So more power. Until recently midland was the only one who offered a mobile style radio and they were pricey. Now with more players coming around the price will drop.

Gmrs is UHF frequencies and will act similar. The biggest thing is now the power with a set up that puts an antenna on the roof.

But I won't flood here with talks of comms. If anyone has questions feel free to hit me up
