I have only ever had cars and I currently have a very small floor jack. What size floor jack and jack stands do you guys use?

Thanks. I don't have a lift, but I think these will do.

I have an ancient (20yr old) Larin 2.5ton jack from Harbor Freight. I wish it would die or give me a reason to grab one of their Daytonas.

In the end, anything that has a decent reach will work great for you. Mine is probably 18in to 20in max?

Don't forget that you can get a regular size floor jack and use wood blocks for extra reach. Bottle jacks are fine too. You don't necessary need an expensive long reach jack to work on trucks. I recommend AGAINST using scissor-type jacks though...

Just a comment, but using a scissor jack is not much different than using a floor jack an a wood block. Both become pivot points / decrease stability.

Good jackstands are (should be) obvious in all scenarios.

I just picked up harbor freights yellow low profile Daytona with 23 1/8" lift. It's a 3 ton. I also use 3 ton jack stands just because that's what I've got, but I want to pick up some bigger ones.

Even the Pittsburgh jack from HF is good, you don't have to limit yourself to the Daytona. I've used the Pittsburgh a ton and it's been flawless so far.

I was referring to scissor jacks having (typically) a lower weight rating, lower durability, and lower versatility compared to other options. A floor jack will also roll to compensate for the "arc" of the lift - this specifically prevents pivot points or decreased stability.

Agree 100% on the jackstands and would add chocks to that list as well!

Very true. I would not intentionally buy a scissor jack. That said, I have done many tire rotations with scissor jacks that have come with cars while blocking the wheels.

When out offroad, I have a couple chocks and bottle jack with a large base. If I get a bit more serious offroad, I will look into an aluminum long reach floor jack.

I laugh that our folks survived using those high-lift-type bumper jacks.

I have a harbor freight 2.5 ton low profile jack and I prefer the low profile jack since I can use a wood block for every car including lowered ones. I also have the 4 of the 6 ton jack stands from harbor freight as well, don't really need the 6 ton rating but they are the only ones that are tall enough to hold the truck and tires completely off the ground.

20190507_221841.jpg I don't know if it's a nationwide sale, but I just picked up this 3.5 ton Napa Carlyle jack on sale for $199

I got a 24” Daytona from harbor freight. It’s legit, and they go on sale pretty often

This one from Harbor Freight has worked well for me.
