The other day I misjudged my parking job in a dark parking garage with weird, tight, spots. I hit the front right bumper against a PVC pylon. Damage is not bad. Only scraped pinstripe lines on the front bumper and exposed the black plastic. I didn’t panic, but I was not happy. Probably gave it more thought than I should have. I even started making a Wishlist for cool steel/aluminum front bumpers because my pinstriped front bumper is so flawed and imperfect now. How will the world look at me now that my truck isn’t perfect? After all, this is the most expensive vehicle I’ve ever bought. However, I realize I overreacted. It’s a truck after all. I am slowly starting to accept the fact that my truck will never be perfect and that it is OKAY for it to have scratches, dents, and bumps. As long as the powertrain and tires are good, and the interior is comfortable that is what really matters?

To be fair, yes paint protects from rust. But should we panic and always try to correct paint whenever it is damaged even though it doesn’t expose rustable metal? Or should we accept the purpose of our trucks and along with it, the inevitable damage?

Plastic front bumper I wouldn’t even care...body panels I would.

I don’t want no stinking scratches or dents. I’m OCD about everything I own. Makes life stressful but, not much I can do about being that way. If I can afford to fix it I will but, if I can’t, I do eventually learn to live with it.
