    Hello All-
I've been lurking here for some time. I am looking to pull the trigger on a Tacoma OR in the next few months. I want Android Auto. I am interested in opinions from current Entune users. On the forum, I have seen some issues with crashing, rebooting, phones not connecting with Entune. Should I get a 2019 and upgrade to an aftermarket unit or should I wait for the 2020 with Android Auto built into Entune? I'm sure the 2020 ORs will be going at or near MSRP and I may be able to save enough on a 2019 to pay for the aftermarket upgrade. I am concerned that I may lose some features only available within the Toyota Entune interface.

I did a search... Some say they lost factory features, some say they did not. Which is it? Any advise? I plan to have BestBuy do the install with the Maestro interface to save steering wheel controls, etc. I do not know much about car audio.

    The unit that I'm looking at is model number AVH-W4500NEX Pioneer - 6.94" - Android Auto/Apple CarPlayTM - Bluetooth - In-Dash CD/DVD Receiver.

    Peace.

It's already May. You might as well wait for like 3 months and see if the 2020 has what you want. If not, you can always buy discounted 2019.

Right. That's the plan. Probably wont buy until October or November. I'm trolling for opinions regarding how people like their aftermarket systems as well as what is the consensus of how the Entune reliability has been. What I don't want to do is pay an extra $3-4,000 for a 2020 and end up with buggy Android Auto. Or conversely, I don't want to get an aftermarket system in a 2019 if there are major drawbacks to doing that. I should have been more clear in my original post. Thanks.

    Peace.

I never cared for Apple CarPlay until I had a rental with it. That was something I didn't know I wanted so bad. Since I have a 2019. I'm gonna try to save up for the Alpine Halo9 system. It's a direct PnP system for the 3rd gen Tacoma. It even comes with the module to retain all the factory steering wheel controls.

I don't get the allure of CarPlay. What's the desire for a hard-mounted shitty screen/UI to be between you and your vastly superior smartphone...just connect via bluetooth and interface directly with the phone and/or steering wheel.

This is good to know. I almost held out for a 2020 because of the tech. Anyone know of similar units? I wish they had one that fit in the dash.

I forgot to mention it also display all the info that the factory system does like fuel economy, etc.

If they had made a unit that fits inside the dash I would've already bought it lol. I'm on the fence about the 'floating' display.
