Break in / Bed in procedure was something like:

Drive under 30mph with very light breaking until zinc coating wears off the rotors.

Then go to a remote area and drive at varying speeds with 3 second light/medium brake durations. Leave 1/2 mile between braking to allow brake system to cool. Do this at least 30 times. This allows braking system to gradually warm up and evenly distribute braking material onto rotors without creating thermal shock.

After doing this drive several miles with no braking to allow brake system to cool.

Tried to bleed brake lines this morning. Started at the right rear. Fluid came out completely clear.

    Stopped bleeding.

    Wow I haven't posted in a while!

Just paid my freight invoice for a new BAMF 2nd Gen Tacoma bumper. Should ship next week! Pretty excited about that. Will change the look of the truck though since it'll be BLACK - using a thermoplastic coating instead of traditional powder coat. Just got to find help getting it installed now.

    Time for change!!!

Pulled the skid plates off. They're getting rusty and need to be stripped and repainted before winter.

    20190901_095111.jpg

Spent a little time here and there applying Aircraft Remover to break down the powder coat. Then scraping it off. Only sandblaster I could locate in town wanted $155/hr and couldn't tell me how long it would take.

    20190907_174753.jpg

Finally got them stripped down today after a week. Washed them, sanded surface rust, washed again and began coating with a Black Satin Enamel.

In other big news... the Pelfreybilt bumper came off last night....

    20190911_204030.jpg

Replaced with a brand new BAMF bumper from @JLee

As much as the Super White Trail Limo was my trademark... I actually think this black on white thing looks better.

Next I'm thinking about removing fender flares and repainting the grill.

Okay. So. My front diff is due for an oil change. Might as well do the rear at the same time. And I don't trust dealers so I was gonna do my Transfer Case, even though they did it in October/November 2018.

Flash forward to tonight. Bought a nice new 10mm Hex Socket. Got the Lexus drain plug for front diff. Got several quarts of Lucas 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Oil. Even bought a pump to put on the bottles to pump it back in.

Guess what I can't get loose? The Fill hole on my front diff. Thank God I'm smart enough to do that before the drain plug. I cannot get the fill plug off to save my life.

So I move on to my Tcase. 24mm bolts should be easy. Find my handy dandy 24mm socket, ratchet, oil catch can. Here we go! Oh. Wait. The cross member for my skid plates blocks the drain bolt.

So I get out a 12mm and 1/2" socket, because the bolts on both ends of the cross member are different sizes. Remove that. Kind of a PITA actually. Set that aside. Sweet. Let's do this.

Open the fill hole. Oil some gushing out. Well shit. I parked my front end on ramps so I had more room to crawl under. Fill hole is on the down hill side. Oil on my floor. And it's mostly clear. So, I guess the dealer did do it after all. Anyhow, get the Tcase drained out. Put the drain bolt back in. Put my new pump on an oil bottle. Begin pumping. Damn pump works, but half the oil pumps out the neck all over your hand, down the bottle, onto the floor. Damnit.

Filled the Tcase until the fill hole was leaking out. Granted I'm on ramps up front. So hopefully it's still good enough. Close it up. Snug down both bolts. Then I spent 20 minutes putting TWO bolts in the cross member to get it back in place. Royal PITA. At this point it's dark outside. I haven't had dinner. And I'm pissed off. So I cleaned up my mess.

Diff fluid changes will happen another day. I'm over it.

Got my Front and Rear differential fluids changed Sunday night. Also topped off the Transfer Case a little bit. Then I got my repainted skid plates put back on. Though somehow I'm missing a couple bolts for my LCA skids so I'm gonna have to figure that one out.

57,758 miles on the truck. About out of powertrain warranty.

Black front looks great mine used to be. I didn’t know you did the black on the hood I have been considering that for a year or so now you’re kinda selling me on it. You still like the headers? I helped put a set on they seem to make a difference

Hard to say on the headers. They are pretty raspy. Had to put a Resonator on to kill that. Muffler I used seems to create a lot of drone at highway speeds. I've debated making changes to quiet things down but don't really have the slush fund right now to do it.

Sold the Tacoma. Dealer in WA has it now. Holy cow are they proud of it!
